This chapter is dedicated to @destiniemarsh for guessing where they were.
Isabella's POV:
We were in Vancouver! My hometown!
"Oh my gosh! Thank you mum!" I hugged mum as we stood in the doorway of the plane.
"Well let's go!" Mum dragged me out of the plane and I stared in awe at the landscape around us. In the distant you could see the mountains and trees. It was a nice day, sweater weather to be exact.
"Where are we staying?" I looked at mum and she paused.
"With some of my friends." She answered quickly, and looked away. I slowly nodded and grabbed my bags. A car was waiting for us so I handed my bags to our driver and opened the door.
"Mum are you coming?" I called out. She nodded and came walking towards the car. I got inside and leant me head against the window. The car door shut and I stared out the window as we began driving. "Have you talked to dad yet?" I asked breaking the silence.
"Yes.. But he'll have to explain everything to you when we get back to London." Mum looked away and I sighed.
"So who are we staying with again?"
"Karol and David Ainsley." Mum ran her hand through her hair and smiled at me. Although I could see right through it. Something is wrong...
~30 minutes later~
We pulled up to a large 3 story home with a front porch and double front doors. The grass was covered in snow and I could see a play structure in the distance. A lady in her late 30's opened the front door and waved. Mum got out of the car and I followed. Am I the only one finding this completely strange?
~Later that night~
So this "family" has 3 kids. One of them being the girl that tweeted me earlier... There's Olivia, Jacob and Ellie.
"Isabella?" Mum walked into the living room with Karol and David. "We need to talk to you..." They sat down next to me and a worried look spread across my face. Karol pulled out a picture from her pocket and handed it to me.
"Who is this?" I asked taking the picture and examining the newborn baby.
"It's you." David stood up and grabbed a newspaper from under the coffee table. He handed the paper to me and I began to read the headline.
Newborn infant kidnapped from hospital nursery.
December 2nd 2002: It's hurts me to write this and feel pain for this young couple. Yesterday they welcomed a brand new baby girl named Savanna Ainsley but other people had something else in mind for this little girl. Kidnapped from the hospital nursery, it was only come to that a nurse must've done it. What kind of sick minded person would steal an innocent child from a couple who thrived for her birth?
I dropped the paper and stood up. "No this can't be."
"It is." Mum looked at me with tears in her eyes and I shook my head.
"Look at Olivia and Ellie and tell us they don't look like you dear." Karol stood up and walked over. "You are a spitting image of us, those people who took you... Obviously didn't treat you right. Every night I wished for a miracle. For my baby girl to come home. I told myself I would give anything in the world, my home, all my money, everything."
"S-So my whole life is a lie?" I looked at mum then at Karol and David. "And you knew?" I asked mum walking forward.
"I promise you baby, I just found out. Your social worker had sent me some baby pictures and I just happened to come across the news article. I don't know how, but I knew that it made sense. Alls I ever wanted was the best for you. And here, is where you have to be. It wasn't a closed adoption, only temporary. They were going to send you back eventually. But god knows that you needed this." Mum stood before me, trying not to cry.
"I-I don't know what to say. That means I won't get to see you, dad, Hunter, Ruby..." I frowned as a memory came flooding back.
"No matter what, promise you'll never leave?" Ruby looked at me with determination and I nodded.
"Where do I have to go? I'm already home. Besides, I couldn't leave you or mum and dad." I smiled at Ruby and she wrapped her arms around me in a hug.
"I love ya Izzy." She mumbled from my shoulder.
"I love ya too Rubes."
"Hey Isabella, you can still visit. I'm sure you can." Mum opened her arms and I ran into them. Jacob came running into the room and shouted.
"So I have another sister? Oh brother!" Jacob smacked his forehead and I giggled.
"David why don't you go start dinner. I've got something to show Isabella." Karol ushered David out of the room and stood at the bottom of the stairs. Mum pushed me towards the stairs and smiled.
"Trust me Izzy." So I did. What's the worse that could happen? I walked over to the stairs and followed Karol to a bedroom door.
"I remember the day I found out I was having you. I was over the moon because me and David had bought this house, knowing we would have children someday. For some reason I had a feeling in the bottom of my stomach, that you were going to be a girl. So I got straight to work. Ignoring everyone's comments about how it could be a boy. And all my work would go to waste." Karol opened the bedroom door and I gasped. It was a baby nursery, untouched for years. There was a white crib in the corner with flower bedding. A dresser, change table and a rocking chair. The walls were a light green with flowers painted on. A mobile hung over top of the crib and a blanket, draped over the side.
"Was this my room?" I asked stepping inside and running my hand along the crib bars.
"Yes, it's quite a shame you never got to see it. I wouldn't even let David use this room for Olivia." Karol picked up a photograph and handed it to me. It was me with Karol and David. At first I wasn't sure this was real, but the way they talk about it, and how mum talks about it... I've start to believe it.
"So my name is actually Savanna?" I asked, quite confused.
"Yes, of course if you want we can change it to Isabella if you're more comfortable with it." I shook my head and placed the picture back on the dresser.
"I love it. It's a great new start, Savanna is a really nice name too." I sighed and walked over to the window. "As much as I'm upset to leave my family back in London, I'm kinda glad to have a new start back home... With my real family."
