"To deny is to invite madness. To accept is to control."

I woke up, feeling a little bit dizzy. My head was pounding like crazy. I looked down at my shirt, it had blood on it. I lifted my shirt up and nothing was there, my shirt was just bloody. What the hell happened??

I sat up, looking around at an unfamiliar place. I was in someone's house. I stood up, looking back at where I had been sleeping. My attention turned towards the front door when I heard two car doors shut. I stepped back a little bit as the knob turned slowly.

Two people entered..A girl who looked about the age of 24. She had blonde hair that was hiked up in a pony tail and blue eyes. She was actually not bad looking. Then there was a guy who looked about the same age and he looked a little intimidating, yet strangely familiar.

"Oh, good..You're up, here. One is your school bag and the other has clothes, your phone, toothbrush, etc. Oh and I left your Aunt a note saying you were out for a morning run and that you were going to walk to school." The girl smiled and tossed me two book bags, I caught them.

"Who are you?" I asked them.

"I'm Paige Gust and this is Derek Hale." Paige does an introduction.

"What do you want? Why am I here?" I asked, in an annoyed voice," Because I am really not in the mood to be kidnapped or held for ransom."

Paige chuckles, " We're not kidnapping you or holding you for ransom, Ruka. Well, I'm not.." She says while slowly facing Derek who rolls his eyes.

"Wait, how'd you know where I live and how do you know my name?" I asked Paige.

"That's not important, right now. What's important is that you know what you are." Derek finally speaks up.

"What do you mean?" I asked Derek.

"Well, close your eyes." Paige instructs.

"Wait, you're not going to--"

"Just close them." She says calmly and I close my eyes.

"Okay, now control your breathing. You are about to feel some changes that you never felt before. Now listen to the sound of my voice carefully." Derek says and I nodded.

Suddenly I started to feel a piercing pain run through my body, I fell to the floor and I opened my eyes a little bit.

"Keep your eyes closed and control your breathing." Derek says and my heart starts to slow down a bit.

"Open them." Paige says and I open my eyes to see her holding a hand mirror up to my face.

I looked in the mirror to see an unfamiliar appearance. My eyes were yellow, I had hair around my face, my ears sprouted out and I had canines. I looked down at my hands to see claws, then suddenly yet slowly it all went away.

"W--what am I?" I asked them as they both helped me up.

"You're a Werewolf, a Beta." Derek replies.

"But werewolves aren't real." I said while shaking my head.

"You may want to believe that werewolves aren't real, but all the proof you need just happened right there on that floor." He says.

"Wait, are you the one I saw last night? The one who bit me?" I asked him and he nods.

"Why me?" I asked.

"Last night, you were about to make a dangerous choice between life and death. You can't drink your problems away." He says with genuine sincerity in his tone. I can't help but think that he might be right.
