"It is very unnerving to be proven wrong."

"Training continues tomorrow. Same time." Derek says as I get out of his black Camaro. Paige smiles and wave.
"Dito." I saluted them before walking up to my porch.
I got inside and collapsed onto the couch, remembering that I have to go ice skating in two hours. My arm hurts like a bitch though. . . Derek had Erica and I fight each other. But he soon ended up taking over and I fought against him instead, leaving Paige to fight Erica. Controlling my shift was basically what Derek wanted me to learn.
"When you shift, you can't imagine anything else. You can't be afraid, not even for a second. It takes no fear. . ." His words rang in my head.
I looked down at the coffee table to see a note. . .
Ru, night shift again. I've noticed that you've been out for the past few nights, hopefully making friends who are going to be a good influence and not lead you back to old habits. Anyways, pizza's in the oven and call your sister.
-Aunt Noami
I sighed and crumpled the note up, throwing it down. I pulled my phone out of my pocket and dialed Remi's number. I put it on speaker. I walked into the kitchen and sat my phone onto the counter. Opening the oven, I grabbed a slice of pizza out of the box and ate it.
"Hey, turd." Remi's voice sounded over the phone.
"Hey, Rem. How've you been?" I asked, taking another bite and getting a can of Pepsi from the fridge.
"Well, if you'd call then you'd know that I'm doing horrible."
"Whaa--really?" I asked, setting my can down and throwing my crust into the trash bin.
"No, you idiot."
"Sorry, I've just been busy."
"You know. That's what Dad says to me ."
"Why do you refer to him as Dad? And don't compare me to him." I said, coldly.
"Sorry. I know I have a habit of doing that. So, what have you been busy with? Wait--Oh, Ru!" She exclaims.
"What?" I asked, confused.
"Please, don't tell me you're back to--"
"What? No! I've changed. . . Some what." I said, taking a sip of my pop.
"Mhm, I'll be the judge of that this weekend." She says and I almost choke.
"Wait--What?" I asked, taking the phone off speaker and putting it up to my ear.
"I'm coming to see you for the weekend." She says.
"Y--you're coming here? To Beacon Hills?" I asked, stammering. She can't come here especially now that I've uh. . ."Changed."
"Yeah. . .What's wrong? You don't sound too happy." She asks. I want to tell her the reason why I don't want her to come visit, but I can't. She'll never look at me the same way.
"No, I am. It's just--never mind." I sighed.
"You sure?"
"Yeah. . Um listen I got tons of homework to get to so. . ."
"Yeah, I understand. See you tomorrow. Bye."
"Yeah. Bye, Rem." I hung up. I ran my fingers through my hair before going upstairs to get ready.
