With Mundus defeated, Dante and Vergil finds themselves in a collapsing Mallet Island. Their only choice is to get out as fast as possible.
Dante runs, shooting any demons that get in the way and while carrying Alec, Vergil follows close behind. After a while, the floor underneath them collapses, creating a hole which they fall into.
Dante looks around and sees that they are in the sewers. Unluckily, a large rock covers the only exit.
The room starts to flash, and on the other side of the room, the Underworld Portal appears, and Mundus makes his way out from it.
"The Gate has been opened. Dante, you are not getting away. THIS is where you will DIE." He roared.
"WE AREN'T GOING ANYWHERE! BESIDES, THERE'S NO PLACE TO GO, LOOK AROUND! THIS WILL BE YOUR BURIAL GROUND AS WELL!" Dante shouted.
Dante and Mundus fight, as Vergil tries his best to stay out of the way, but Dante sees that it’s no use with only his powers in the human world.
"What is the matter?" Mundus asked mockingly. "Here your powers are weak, HUMAN!"
Dante suddenly hears the distant voice of Eva. "Dante... You'll be okay... You can do it..."
"Wha...Mo...Mother!"
Through another portal, bright flashes of yellow lightning come out, and Trish leaps out.
"Dante, use my power!" She shouted to him.
"Trish!"
Trish charges up with an incredible amount of yellow lightning, and throws it to Dante. Catching it, Dante absorbs it, and finds himself with a big boost of confidence.
"Okay!"
Dante charges up his demonic power along with Trishs' lightning.
"Looks like we have a winner..." Vergil smiles, as he knows what his brother was going to say.
"Jackpot!" They say in unison.
Dante combines his and Trish’s power into his guns, and blows a powerful shot into Mundus.
"Dante, I will return... And I will rule this wwwoooorrlllddd..." Mundus said, dying.
"Goodbye! And when you do come back, give my regards to my son, will ya?"
Mundus fades away into his portal, and Trish and Dante run to each other.
"Trish!"
"Dante! Dante, I...I..." Trish starts to cry.
"Trish...devils never cry... These tears," He pauses. "tears are a gift only humans have."
They realize that the sewers are still collapsing.
"We're too late!" She said sadly.
"No, Trish. It's never too late."
With the whole roof collapsing, an airplane falls in front of them.
"And we humans, never give up... are you ready?"
"Yes." She replied.
"Wait." Vergil lifted Alec into the plane. "Leave me here."
Dante looked at him like he had grown an extra limb.
"Are you crazy?" He shouted. "No. Get your a** in the plane." Entering the plane, Dante starts it, and shoots the wall, creating an exit.
"Get in." Vergil just shook his head and stepped away from the air craft. He turned into a devil and sat down on the ground, holding his amulet.
"I have removed the curse on Alec." He threw the amulet into the plane. "Now go before it's too late brother."
"I'm not-"
"Just go Dante!" He shouts, using his power to push the plane away from him and through the exit Dante had created.
Right on time, Trish, Dante and Alec escape with the aid of the plane, flying away from a collapsing island. Alec started to wake up and realises that she was off the island.
"Dante..." She said sleepily. "Where's Vergil?"
"On the island." He replied quietly. She spun around and looked at the now collapsed island in tears.
"The sky! SO clear! SO blue!" Trish said happily. Dante smiled.
"The sky is fair, and it will always be above everyone's head, no different!"
"Like the sky, I feel like my heart is becoming clear..." She whispered.
"Let's not forget, though, the Underworld's evil is still alive. They will someday return!"
"There's no need to worry, right? Cause the world has the Legendary Dark Knight Dante... and his sidekicks!" Alec smiled through her tears, holding Vergil's amulet.
"Yeah..."
