Soon after we stopped, I fell off the dog.

"Ow," I mumbled as I picked myself off the ground. Typical clumsy Phil.

Dan slid off next to me. "Are you okay Phil?" I nodded. Dan turned on Nico and Will. "What is WRONG WITH YOU PEOPLE?"

Nico's eyes grew stormy.

"I'd watch your tone around me, boy," that was the lazy drawl again. I looked around to see it had come from a large man in a loud shirt. He looked like he was hungover.

"What if I don't, asshole?" Dan looked ready to spit fire.

The man replied by snapping his fingers. Dan looked confused for a moment, until vines suddenly sprouted from the ground and wrapped around his legs. He fell forward and hit his head on the steps of the porch. The loud shirted-man looked amused.

I ran to Dan's side. His eyes were closed, but he was breathing.

Will hopped off the dog and ran to his side, putting a hand gently on Dan's neck.

"His heart rate is normal," The blonde stated. "But he's unconscious."

I whimpered slightly, looking up a the man. "How did you do that?"

He snorted. His eyes flashed purple. "Someone show this boy the orientation film." He said boy as if he were talking about a pet he didn't want.

Nico grabbed my arm and pulled me up. "C'mon Phil." He began to pull me away. "Wait!" I yelped. "What about Dan?" I squirmed in his grip. He ignored me. Where was he taking me?

"Let me go!"

He still ignored me.

I didn't have any weapons. But I needed him to let me go!

I was considering biting him, but then remembered what was in my bag.

Nico yelped as I brought a small cactus down on his hand.

I took this moment to struggle free. I was worried Will would grab me, but he instead ran to Nico and gently grabbed his hand. "Are you okay?"

Nico muttered something angrily and began to storm over to me.

I grabbed Dan under the arms and begin to drag him away.

"Dan," I muttered. "Wake up!"

When he didn't, and the two boys were drawing closer, I let go of Dan and dodged them, grabbing Jeremy, who I had dropped, and flung myself at Nico.

I didn't even touch him before a hundred white somethings emerged from the ground and created a cocoon around me. Only the smallest hint of daylight emerged from between the things. That's when I realized they were bones.

"Nico!" I heard Will yelp. "I told you not to do underworld magic anymore!"

Nico responded something I didn't hear.

Then I began to cry.

There was silence.

"It's okay," Will's voice soothed. "It's gonna be all right."

Vines began to creep up from the bottom of the cocoon.

"No!" I screamed. I tried to squirm away. I threw myself at the walls.

"No!" I yelled again, as the vines began to latch onto my feet. I tried to kick them away, and sobbed.

They crept up my legs, them over my waist. They were mummifying me.

I continued to thrash around until I couldn't anymore. The vines crept over my face, leaving a hole for me to breathe.

"No.." I whimpered. Then I found that my voice was gone. I fell onto the ground.

"He's unconscious," The man's voice drawled. Then I was confused. I stayed silent.

"He's got spunk," Nico's voice rang out. "Attacking me with a cactus."

"Let me see your arm," Will said. Silence. "I'll get you some band-aids later."

"I don't need any band-aids Will."

"Yes you do death boy."

"Do NOT call me death boy."

The man cleared his throat. "As entertaining as it is to watch you two lovebirds fight..."

There was silence.

Then someone hoisted me up.

Will's voice rang from directly above me. "Can you carry Dan?"

I thought for a moment, then kicked him in the head.

The vines broke away from me, and I thumped onto the ground. Will lay on his back, groaning.

"How are you still awake?" That was the man. He looked genuinely surprised.

I looked over to see that Nico was setting down Dan. He drew a sword. I picked up my cactus.

I raced over to him, but he lifted the hilt of his sword and hit me on the head.

I collapsed onto the ground, the world going fuzzy and black.

"Sorry Phil."
