ChapterEight-MeetingJeremiah'smom
OneMonthLater
It'd been a whole month. Ryan and I were still together. He was back working so he barely had time for me. Jeremiah and I still saw each other. I had a feeling that I was in love with him. He was so funny, sweet, and he'd been such a gentleman. That day, he wanted me to meet his mom. I was so nervous, but I hoped she liked me.
I put on a pair of skinny jeans, a turquoise blouse, and gray Ralph Lauren slide on shoes. I looked nice for a cookout. I know a lot of folks were going to be there. I let my hair hang. I grabbed my purse and walked into the living room. Jeremiah and Kathy were sitting on the couch watching TV.
"Are you ready?" I asked Jeremiah.
"You look nice baby. Real nice." Kathy smiled at me.
"Thank you momma."
"See you later momma." Jeremiah kissed Kathy on the cheek. I loved how momma claimeedre him as her son-in-law.
"Alright my baby. Y'all be careful."
"We will."
Jeremiah and I left. My heart was beating out of my chest.
"Loosen up Kay. She's going to love you. Don't be nervous." Jeremiah smiled at me.
I nodded. Even though I was still nervous.
"Oh, when I go in and speak to momma, I'm leaving for a couple of hours. I have to handle a few things at work."
"You can't leave me!" I whined.
"Don't start Kay. You'll be alright." he rubbed my thigh.
When we made it to Jeremiah's mom house, I got nervous all over again.
It was a nice upstairs brick house with lots of flowers all over the yard. I could smell collard greens from outside. I could hear PartyLikeBackinThe Day by TK Soul playing.
I grabbed Jeremiah's hand as we walked inside.
"Ma!" Jeremiah called.
"I'm in here!" she yelled.
We walked into the kitchen . A pretty, black lady turned around. She had brown skin, long, black hair, and gray eyes. She looked at least 30 something, but I knew she wasn't. She's about 5'8.
"Hey boo." she hugged Jeremiah.
"Ma this my lady, Kristie."
"Awe, you're so pretty." she hugged me. "My name is Tina, but you can call me momma. You must be something special because Jeremiah's never brought a lady home."
I smiled. I really felt special
"Ma, I'll be back in a couple of hours." Jeremiah said and kissed Tina on the cheek.
"Okay sweetie."
Jeremiah left.
"So Kristie, where are you from?" Tina asked as she smiled at me.
"Millbrook, Alabama. Born and raised." I told her.
"Well look at that." she smiled. "I like you already. I'm from Greenville, Alabama. Imma ol' country gal."
I laughed. "Me too."
"Let me finish stirring this macaroni. Then we'll go out back to meet the rest of the family."
