Chapter Nine - Don't Fxck With My Man

Today, my mom, Kendrick, and I are going out. It's been a while since we spent time together. We're so busy. Graduation is right around the corner.

"So what you doing tonight babe?" Ryan asked through the phone.

"Family time with my mom and brother."  I said.

"Sounds fun. Well, I don't think I'll be able to make it to your graduation."

This nigga... he promised! That just made me so mad. That's why I can't stand his ass now. He ain't never got time for me.

  "It's cool." I lied.

"I'll make it up. I promise."  Ryan said.

"Yeah, well, I have to go."

   "Okay. Love you."

"Love you too."  I hung up. I don't know if I love Ryan anymore.

Kathy walked into my room.  "I know what you're thinking about. Choose the second one. If you REALLY loved the first one, then you wouldn't have fell in love with the second. Now, get up and get ready."

  I smiled. "Thanks ma."

"You're welcome my   baby." she walked out.

I struggled out of bed and took a quick shower. I put on a Neon orange short, strapless dress with a Jean jacket over it.  I put on my black Bob's and let my hair hang. I grabbed my Michael Kors purse that Jeremiah puts money in every other day. Stacks of it.

I walked into the living room. Momma was already ready, waiting for me.

"You look nice. Kendrick is already at the restaurant."

Kathy and I left. When she started the engine of her black Chevrolet Tahoe, Dirt Road Anthem by Jason Aldean played through the speakers. One of our favorite songs.

"I miss livin'  in the country. It's so much better than the city." I said as I looked out the window.

"Me too. We gon' have to go see your grandmother. She's been asking about you and Kendrick." Kathy said .

I smiled. I miss grandma Becky so much. We use to ride on the four wheeler together when I was little. She always had popcicles in the freezer for us. And she always stayed in the kitchen, cooking corn bread and those good ole biscuits. There's nothing like home. I've thought about moving back once I'm finished with college.

We made it to Ruby Tuesday in no time. Kendrick had already had a table for us.

"What's up sis. Hey ma." Kendrick stood up and hugged us.

"Hey my baby." Kathy smiled. "You too busy for me?"

"No ma'am. It's nothing like that momma."

We sat down. Soon, a waiter came and took our order.

"Lil sis gon' be graduating next week. Turn up!" Kendrick smiled at me. "I'm proud of you."
