Callie
I sat at Lena's table while she sorted out my timetable and played with my iPhone as I listened to my music. Lena tugged the earphone out and spoke to me. "Let's get going. It's nearly lunch." She said with a small smile and I rolled my eyes.
"Do I even have to meet them now?" I questioned and Lena looked at me.
"Well, you are going to have to meet them some day so why not now?" She questioned and I shrugged because I didn't want to let my guard down. Not now. Not ever.
"Can you at least tell me something?" I asked as I stood up and swing my bag on my back.
"What do you want me to tell you?" Lena asked softly as she smiled in a motherly way as I shallowed.
"If I give your family a chance, will I be able to stay?" I whispered and Lena looked at me.
"If you are willing to show respect and if you want to be apart of our family then yes." Lena responded softly and carefully like she was trying not to say something that could, I don't know ruin this whole talk with me and her then I raised my eyebrows.
"Why are you so careful with your wording?" I asked as I put my iPhone in my pocket of my jeans.
"I am out of experience since it's been a few years since Stef and I had fostered." I nodded still unsure.
"Okay.." I sighed then spoke again. "I am sorry." I whispered.
" Callie-"
" I shouldn't of called you and Stef dykes. That wasn't fair especially when you opened your home to me so last minute and it isn't like I don't accept people for who they are because I do."
"It's okay, sweetie." Lena nodded with a smile. "You are a good person." Sure I am.
I nodded and she put her hand out to guide me out of her office into the busy hallways because the lunch bell just rang. I would be lying if I said I wasn't nervous about all the kid's reactions of seeing a beaten up girl next to their mother. We sat on a bench and Lena took out two brown bags.
"You didn't-"
" It's okay, you need food." Lena said softly as she placed one in front of me. " I hope you like ham and tomato."
"That is my favorite." I admitted softly with a little laugh and Lena laughed a little as she handed me a water bottle. Then, a little boy came and sat quietly.
"Jude, this is Callie." Lena said softly and Jude looked up from his lunch with a small smile. He was so cute.
"Hi." He said then got his brown bag out and got a sandwich out.
"Hi Jude." I said softly and he looked up at me then smiled again. I think he was scared a little. Then, a girl and boy who looked a like came to our table.
"Is this the girl?" The girl asked rudely and I looked into her eyes. Okay, judge me, that is fine.
"Mariana, her name is Callie and please be a little nicer. This is Jesus and Mariana." Lena announced as she pointed to each twin as she said their name.
"Why do you have bruises and cuts on your face?" Jude asked innocently. I looked at him and smiled a little.
"I got hurt, that's all." I whispered and he frowned.
"Did your parents do that?" My throat tighten.
Lena
Jude's experiences with bruises and cuts were from his parents. I looked at Jude then at Callie. "You don't need to answer that." I whispered and Callie nodded.
"No, I don't have any parents, Jude." She answered softly with a little smile. "I am on a flight by myself at the moment." Jude just nodded and proceeded to eat. I looked at Mariana and Jesus.
"Where's Brandon?" I asked softly and Jesus laughed.
"He is probably hanging out with Talya." Jesus answered and I got my phone out then tested Brandon. A few minutes later, he showed up with Talya next to me.
"Mama!" Brandon scolded. "It's my birthday, I deserve to hang out with my girlfriend."
"I know but I wanted you to meet Callie." I said softly as I pointed to Callie who now was talking a little more to Jesus and Jude whilst Mariana was texting on her phone.
"Hey, it's my birthday too as well." Callie said softly. " That is so strange." Talya's grip on Brandon got tighter.
"That is cool." Brandon said now interested in Callie. "I just turned 16!"
"Oh my god, me too!" Callie answered back excitedly. I smiled but I wish their knew. Only if they knew. What if they remember what Stef told me. Oh..
"Callie has all her classes with you." I interrupted. " So, show her around and Talya, I believe you have a lunch detention." Talya rolled her eyes.
"Mama." Brandon used his eyes to warn me.
"Brandon, just because Talya is your girlfriend, she can't use me as a get out of jail card. Talya, go now before I write you an afternoon detention." Talya let go of Brandon then walked away.
"Ma-"
"Buddy, please just show Callie around. You two are getting along so don't ruin it because I made your girlfriend go to her detention." Brandon nodded then smiled at Callie. Both of them walked away chatting away.
"That is so strange that B and Callie have the same birthdays." Jesus stated and I laughed.
"I know right." I said as I stood up and Mariana rolled her eyes.
"Why not they get married? Oh that is right, foster siblings can't date." Mariana said out of sarcasm.
"Okay, Miss thing, you need to stop being sassy and grow up. Callie is a nice girl, give her a chance."
"Whatever Mama." She stood up and walked away leaving her rubbish behind.
" MARIANA FOSTER, GET YOUR SASSY BUTT BACK HERE AND CLEAN UP THE MESS YOU LEFT." Jesus screamed and Mariana turned around.
" YOU CLEAN IT UP. YOU ARE MY TWIN." She then walked off. I laughed as Jesus rolled his eyes.
"I will talk to her for you." I said softly as I took Callie's rubbish then realized Jude was still there. "Hey buddy, are you okay?"
"Hm." Jude looked up at me. " Yeah. Just thinking."
"What about?" I sat back down as Jesus walked off, probably to scream at Mariana. Twins.
"Callie seems so much like Mum." Jude whispered. " And she looks so much like B that isn't funny." I didn't think it was that obvious and I laughed it off.
"Well, that is good, isn't it?"
"Mama, I mean I know this is a silly thought but every time it is Brandon's Birthday, Mum always seems to off."
"Jude-"
"Did Stef give Callie away?" Jude asked in a angry tone that he never spoke in. He called Stef, Stef.
"Jude, what are you talking about?"
"Mum wears half a heart of a necklace." Jude stated and I nodded slowly. "Callie has the same exact necklace on her." I unclutched my fists and Jude sighed. " Callie is Stef's daughter." He stood up and I stood up.
"Look, Jude. Callie nor Brandon know the whole truth, neither do you. Please let Mum and I explain to you tonight?"
"Fine." Jude said angrily.
"Promise you won't mentioned this to them." I said and he sighed.
"Promise." I let out a breath and smiled.
" Thank you hun." I whispered and Jude shook his head.
" I have class." With that, he walked off and I watched from afar and sighed. I decided to text Stef that somehow Jude connected the dots.
