04 / Mistakes

Callie

We sat in my first class here. "What subject is this?" I whispered to Brandon and he looked at me with a smile.

"Maths." He replied and made a funny face.  "But at least we have a good teacher." I nodded then the teacher walked in.

"Hello everybody." The dude looked so casual which I wasn't expecting from any school let along this school. I turned around in my chair and faced the front to give this teacher a fair chance. At least I can feel comfortable as Brandon makes me feel safe for some reason.

Stef

"Jude knows!" Lena said as soon as I answered the call.

"Hang on. Rewind. What?" I asked hoping I heard wrong as my heart beat got faster. 

"Callie still has that necklace, baby." Lena whispered.

"Jude knows that?" I questioned as I heard my heart thumping against my chest.

"He knows you wear the other half and then when Callie said that today was her birthday too, Jude connected the dots together." Lena said and my heart fell knowing Jude knows my biggest regret.

"Jude isn't-"

"I told him he can't and we will explain to him tonight after school."

"We won't be able to hold this secret any longer if Jude knows." I whispered as I moved a few hair strains out of my face. "We can't let him lie for us. That isn't fair."

"But it isn't fair-"

"We aren't going to let Jude lie for us." I interrupted as I whispered sternly. "He is only a little boy who doesn't need to be in this mess."

"What do you suggest then, Stef?" Lena questioned with almost annoyance and I sighed softly.

"We will talk to Jude right now." I whispered as I got up to go tell my boss I need to go.

"Stef, stop." Lena ordered and I sighed. "You need to think about this!"

"No, Lena. We just need to talk to Jude and he will understand once I explained this to him." I whispered as I knocked at the door and explain quickly to my boss that we had a family emergency then ran out to go to their school. "I will be there soon."

"Stefanie Foster."

" Lena Adams." I said back in a stern voice as I placed the phone in the socket in the car and drove.

"We aren't pulling Jude out of his class to explain your mistakes to him-"

"Mistakes?"

"Stef, I-"

"Callie and Brandon aren't mistakes!" I said in a serious tone as I stopped at a red light.

"I know it sounded like I said that but I meant the mistake of letting Callie go-"

"Are you trying to make me angry?" I asked and I heard her sigh so I sighed too. "I will be there soon." I hanged up and drove.

Jude

I can't believe that Stef decided to adopt me and my twin siblings when she has given up on her own child. I don't even know what to think of it, I really don't. I had a flashback from when I first met Stef with the twins.

"We are going have to tell Jude." Jesus whispered to Mariana with a hushed tone

"Why?" Mariana asked softly. "We aren't even sure if they are still looking for us."
