***Question of the chapter:

The book or the movie?

I prefer the book, because the movie often leaves out some of the best parts. But when it comes to Harry Potter, I like both.

---

Monday morning, I had to basically drag myself out of bed.

The past weekend I had slept a lot and my body was getting used to it, so waking up was proving to be a really hard thing to do.

Mema and Papa were extremely pleased that I was actually doing something with my life. Okay, Mema was pleased, Papa didn't like the fact that I was hanging out with so many guys.

"Lyra, could you come in here?" Mema asked me.

I groaned but walked into the kitchen anyway. I was already late for school.

"Yes Mema?"

"Your aunt Julie is moving in this weekend," Papa told me.

My eyes - that had been closed - shot open.

"My fathers sister?" I asked. They both nodded.

I hadn't seen my fathers family since the funeral. Why was Julie coming to live with us.

"She wants to be part of your lives. And if anything were to happen to your Papa and I, she'd be the one to take care of you."

"Uhm...okay, I'm going to get to school now..." I trailed off. Why was I making this so awkward? I should be happy. Julie is an amazing person, she's young and extremely fun. I should be excited!

"Lucy's staying home today," Papa said. I nodded and walked outside.

On the way to school I thought about how different things would have been if my parents were still alive. I would be happy. I wouldn't have to fake a smile everyday.

But you can't change the past.

When I got to school, I saw Scott waiting for me. Just great. Why the hell was he waiting for me. Yeah, yeah, I know I sound like a horrible girlfriend. But I've explained. Scott and I aren't really clicking anymore.

"Hey babe," he greeted when I got out of the car. I waved at him. Just then, the bell rang. Thank The Lord.

"Gotta go Scott! Don't wanna be late for class," I walked away quickly before he could say anything else.

The periods leading up to lunch dragged. I really wasn't in the mood for those people I call my friends. Rebecca would try and tell me about the guy she hooked up on the weekend and I honestly couldn't be less interested.

"Hey, Kitten," somebody greeted. I instantly recognized that deep sexy voice. It was the voice of Sam. I spun around.

"Sam!" I grinned. And it was actually real.

"Hi there," he chuckled.

"Wait," I stopped smiling, "you didn't call me Princess," I noted.

"Yeah, I figured that's too mainstream. And you like cats, so now your name's Kitten."

I know most girls hate it when guys give them nicknames, but I loved it. Well, I only loved it because it was Sam giving me a nickname.

"What're you doing here?" I asked.

"I got bored, so I decided to pay you a visit," he shrugged.

"Well then welcome to my horrible high school," he opened my armed and gestured around us. He laughed lightly.
