Beyoncé
All the couples followed Jim, Elizabeth, India and Topan outside to a field lined with multiple, humongous multicoloured balls.
"Ooh we playing with balls today?"Cardi laughed.
"Yes but this is an exercise that will help you know what your issues truly are. This exercise is called The Blame Game,"Elizabeth turned around with a smile.
"These balls are labelled with common issues in marriages and relationships. What y'all will do is pick out the issue that matters the most to you and throw it across to your partner's side as if it's their fault,"India further explained.
"The weight of these balls are very heavy so it will put a lot of pressure on the issue. Kim and Kanye, why don't y'all go first?"Topan suggested. Kim and Kanye stepped into their own circles.
"Kanye, pick your biggest issue,"Jim looked over at the balls. I scanned them. There were so many problems labelled: quality time, intimacy, separate lives, communication, public opinion and way way more. Out of them all I would say my biggest issues were fighting, respect, selfishness and children & family.
Kanye marched over to the racks and picked up respect. He chucked it over to Kim's circle with a forceful throw.
"Respect. Kim you've never respected me as your husband. Posting nude selfies online and shit. How do you think it makes me feel to know that the whole world has seen what was only meant for me?"he huffed. Kim struggled to pick the ball up but threw it over to him.
"Well this is what keeps people entertained and honestly Kanye the whole world has seen me,"she rolled her eyes.
"So if that's for entertainment the fuck you got a reality show for?"Kanye tossed it back and Cardi laughed. Kim put her hand on her hip and let the ball rest by her side. After Kim brought out her biggest issue (which was children & family) it was time for me and Jay. I went first and chucked a cherry ball labelled 'selfishness' into Jay's circle.
"Jay you are very selfish. You don't ask me for my opinion, you never ask me if I'm okay. You just do whatever the hell you want whenever the hell you want,"I folded my arms.
"Bey how can you say I 'never' ask you when I always did. You shut me out and started doing your own thing so I started to do mine,"he threw it into my circle.
"You've always been selfish towards me Jay."
"I've done nothing but love you and want to be with you. I know the real reason you married me Beyoncé. The real reason,"I stared at him trying to see if he was telling the truth. He frowned at me and I huffed.
"This the pot calling the kettle black? Don't make me laugh Jay. You're ridiculous,"I laughed.
"I'm ridiculous but you're the one who turns to their parents every time?"
"Okay I think we're getting off track here. Jay why don't you pick out your biggest issue?"Topan stepped in before we came to blows. Jay grabbed a marmalade-coloured ball and once he rotated it I could see the words 'separate lives' in bold.
"It's separate lives Bey. We live under the same roof but we have separate lives,"he threw it towards me.
"And whose fault is that?"I rolled it back because my arms were achy. These balls must've been at least 5kg.
"Yours. You never listen. Because we have separate lives we don't spend quality time with each other and we're hardly intimate and because of that we don't respect each other because we never spend time with each other. That just ends in poor communication, fighting and selfishness because we don't live as one. It's crazy,"he gave it back.
"You drive me crazy and don't act as if you don't play a part in this 'separate lives' shit. Why you coming home at 3 sometimes in the morning?"
"Why you coming home at 4 sometimes in the morning? Is it Kionte or Eddie?"he raised his eyebrows and the other couples 'ooh'ed.
"Don't be calling out my exes when I could make a whole damn basketball team with yours. They keep popping up like flies. Remember Soraya?"
"You know what? I'm actually done with this fucking exercise so imma put this in the middle. Gonna make me punch a damn wall in a second,"he growled stepping out of his circle. I stepped out of mine too, boiling with anger. The worst thing was that I couldn't go away to let off steam because we had to wait for everyone else. Jay didn't look too calm either.
While waiting for the rest of the couples to finish I was deeply sunken in my thoughts. It really did make me question what we'd been doing all this time.
We were both right. Both of us were living selfish, separate lives. Neither of us wanted to give anything of ours up and we wanted to do our own thing.
Now thinking about it, all of those labels were linked to us. We were never intimate, we didn't spend quality time with each other and the public opinion was so important to us. We hardly communicated so we were always fighting and Jay wasn't really happy about stretching his money out to support my sister and her newborn baby.
If things were going to work between us then we needed to start doing things together. I did love Jay but I wasn't in love with him because we hardly knew each other now.
This was our last chance, our last hope. If we couldn't make it out of this resort holding hands as a stronger couple then we wouldn't be a couple- end of.
