~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~The whole two hours it took to get to the Keep neither of them spoke. Mavick stayed silent, and Annie had no intention of striking a conversation. When the Keep came into view they were surprised to see no Titans there. Annie had mentally prepared herself for a brutal fight, but was relived when she saw the grounds were empty of the seven other titans. Where they were, she didn't care. Not right now. It meant that they could find Tauriel faster, and that meant she could get back to Mikasa faster.
She pointed at the Keep. "There's an opening there. On the left side. Lets leave our horses there just in case something happens. It'll make for a quick getaway."
Mavick nodded, and they headed there. They got off their horses at the designated spot, and walked through the small opening.
The small opening was really a place that was more flat than the rest of the keep grounds. The center, as they continued to walk deeper into the ruins, were more empty with patches of rubble here and there, which made sense considering that's where the training grounds were.
Everything else was wrecked. The four side of the Keep were wrecked. Towers were knocked down. Huge pieces of the Keep littered certain spots, while bricks and rubble filled the other spots. There were heaps of gravel everywhere, making small hills.
They came into what used to be the training area, and was ultimately the only place that was walkable without one traipsing over rocks.
Annie turned to the left, getting her bearings and trying to remember where Tauriel's room was.
"I was hoping you wouldn't be here," A deep voice said, and Annie stiffened upon recognizing who it was.
A tall buff male came into view, climbing over the rubble in front of Annie and settling in the almost plain spot they were in.
"Reiner..." Annie was surprised, and a little breathless. It's been so long since she's seen him. A year since everything went to shit.
His build was bigger, and he seemed taller to Annie. His hair seemed to be a paler blonde, as if the life was sucked out of them. His eyes, his piercing amber eyes, were different. Before, they held themself high, speaking of honor and loyalty. Now his eyes speak of coldness, a deep darkness rotting in his core that was changing him within. He even carried himself differently. Before Reiner stood tall like a brave soldier, but now he reminded Annie of a rogue. A cool, calculated rogue who had no problem killing whomever they pleased.
It was odd to Annie to see these changes, when she barely saw them in Mikasa and the others. Mikasa, she just grew to be more womanly, such as her body curving to its more adult state. Even her hair didn't change, but Reiner seemed like a dark twin of his former self.
He cocked his head to the side slightly, taking her in. "It's been a long time, Annie."
Mavick shifted beside Annie, his eyes going wide upon the sight of the Armored Titan. Annie didn't know what was going through the Scout's head right now.
She could imagine it wasn't anything good considering Reiner probably killed some of his comrades when she awakened.
Mavick tightened his hands around the hilt of his swords, his eyes narrowing at Reiner.
Annie focused back on Reiner.
"Mavick, go look for Tauriel."
"What?" He asked. "I'm not leaving you alone with him-"
