Sorry for the lateness. Didn't want to give a crap chapter. Enjoy!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~An hour.
That's how long it took before Mikasa finally saw a man on top of a rusty warehouse.
Mikasa narrowed her grey eyes at where he left, which had turned a deadly silver in the moonlight.
Once word reached Erwin and Hange of Annie's disappearance, it hadn't taken long for the two to get all the Scouts (the sober ones at least) to comb through the city. Out of the twenty six that came, there were a total of sixteen looking right now, including Mikasa and her team.
Erwin had forbade anyone using the 3D gear because of the noise. Hearing the whirring of cables and gas would have alerted anyone that Scouts were looking.
Mikasa would have preferred to have the gear, but she understood the need for stealth, especially if Annie was taken at night. She did, however, take her hood, opting to obscure her face in the night despite its green color. She also took her own dual dagger blades, having bought them from a weapons shop within one of the cities after her fight with Annie, and she required her team to get their own too. She had bought it for each member, her own little gift to them, and she had them take it now as well.
Mikasa focused on the spot she last saw the man.
She hadn't truly seen the watchman atop the warehouse if it weren't for his leaving. She was on top of a roof, several rows of houses away from him, when she saw movement in the corner of her eye.
Mikasa could only assume that he was leaving because he had finally seen Scouts near him. Of course, this peaked Mikasa's interest.
Who else would be on top of a roof, let alone a rusty warehouse, and disappear when she happened to be there?
"There," Mikasa pointed towards where she saw him disappear. "There was someone there. Keeping watch."
"Where? That clothing store?" Mavick asked, not quite seeing the place.
"No. The warehouse. Right there," Mikasa pointed and Mavick frowned.
"Uh," Arlise said, squinting towards where Mikasa was pointing at. "Are you sure?"
"Yes. Annie is there," Mikasa replied.
"Or she might not be." Mavick shook his head. "Let's not jump into anything. Let's tell Erwin and Hange, and then we can surround the warehouse."
"That'll take too much time," Mikasa argued. "Whoever took her did it quick, meaning they're on a schedule. I saw him leave. He's probably going to warn the others, and then they'll move her somewhere else."
Everyone looked at her with apprehensive faces, not quite taking the step forward in believing her.
"Captain, Erwin and Hange said to notify them if we see Annie." Mavick brought up, arguing another point.
"I'm not sure going against orders is a good idea." Arlise added, and Judith nodded.
"Captain, let's go warn Erwin-"
"There isn't time!" Mikasa bursted, all her frustration coming over. Her team became startled at Mikasa's broken composure. "Annie is in there. I know it. We have to get her. Now."
