The two men at the doorway stared after Mikasa's squad member in apparent disbelief. After a few moments they got out of their stupor, and Levi said, "That girl has balls.""She wouldn't be her if she didnt," Mikasa said, standing up from the bed. "Lets get this over with."
"Actually, might as well stay here," Armin began to suggest. "All of us are here anyway. "
"Hange is waiting inside my quarters." Erwin replied in a formal refusal. "And I'd rather not have any chance of something being overheard. My office is the best place for that."
"Let's go," Mikasa said, nodding off.
They all left her room, Mikasa putting on shoes before she left. It was dark already, and moonlight was shining through openings of windows. They were on the far side of the keep where the battle was away from, or at least, where the Colossal Titan had appeared but barely managed to nick a wall. The Armored Titan, however, managed to make a mess on the other side where the plaza was. The middle of the front wall of the plaza was destroyed since the Titan had ran through it, and Eren crashed against the right side of that wall, damaging it badly as well. There was now an opening to the keep, thought it didn't really make a difference in defense. The walls rose about 13 meters, so it wasn't high enough to keep out most Titans.
Mikasa didn't know how many Scouts were lost, nor did she know how many were injured, but she had to guess it wasn't as high as when the operation to capture the Female Titan was done.
Mikasa was too deep in her thoughts to notice that they had already made it to Erwin's office. They stepped inside and closed the door quietly, Hange not even stirring from the desk. She exhaled heavily before looking up, flipping a page in the book she was studying.
"Is there anyone else we need to wait for?" She asked, leaning back in the chair.
Erwin went to his desk, grabbing some of the loose sheets of notes there. "No, we're all here. We'll debrief Eren once he's awake." He looked up and settled his gaze on Armin. "I leave that task to you, by the way. And this is only a need to know basis, and right now, everyone in here and Eren are the only people who needs to know."
"What about Tauriel?" Armin asked. "Levi said it would've been better if she came."
"She chose to not be included in this," Levi spoke. "But she will know anyways. Mikasa and I's teams will know what transpires in here. I'm content with letting them rest at the moment."
"What exactly are we talking about?" Mikasa questioned. "I had already debriefed you on the attack Erwin."
"Right to the point Mikasa, I love it." Hange said, grinning a wide grin. Mikasa didn't know how she still had energy to be peppy. They were attacked today and fellow scouts died or are seriously injured, yet the high ranking officer was smiling. "Well I visited our dear Armin earlier today in the infirmary, and he came up with some interesting conclusions."
Mikasa turned to Armin, her eyebrows furrowed. "You didn't tell me this."
"It wasn't the right time," He explained. "Its heavy stuff."
Mikasa's serious expression didn't leave her face. "What is it?"
Erwin stopped shuffling his papers around and leaned forward on his desk. "He believes he figured out who the other Titan Shifters are."
Mikasa's stomach flipped, but for some reason it wasn't in excitement. It wasn't in anger or shock. Mikasa felt like she's been waiting for the answer for such a long time that whoever they told her who it was, or could be, she couldn't be truly surprised. Not really.
