"Mikasa."

Mikasa jolted awake, ready to fight.

"Woah woah," Tauriel stepped back with her palms out to calm her Captain. "Its just me."

Mikasa loosened the tension from her body and rubbed her eyes. She didn't remember falling asleep. "Sorry," She murmured sleepily. "Training has me ready to fight no matter what state I'm in."

"Clearly," Tauriel teased lightly.

Mikasa's head perked up at the sound of voices in the kitchen. There was a new one that she didn't recognize. Mikasa raised a brow in that direction.

"Asuna's here." Tauriel explained. "Thats what I came to wake you up for."

Mikasa was on her feet in an instant. "Did she see Annie already?"

Tauriel nodded. "She did. She's been here for about two hours examining her. She took some blood samples and studied them in whatever contraption she brought."

"She what?" Mikasa didn't mean for it to come out strong, but it did and Tauriel tensed. "You didn't wake me up for any of it? What if she wants Annie's blood for experiments? Or proof for the government that we are harboring her? For-"

"Hey chill. I know you're worried for Annie but I was there the whole time watching over." Tauriel replied. "And I didn't wake you because you haven't slept in close to sixty hours. You needed it, and nothing was happening that was important, until now."

Mikasa entered the kitchen, Tauriel in tow. At the sound of new footsteps all conversation in the kitchen stopped and Yang, who was talking to a new girl whom Mikasa assumed was Asuna, gestured at Mikasa. Asuna turned around, greeting Mikasa with a smile.

"Hi," She greeted kindly, holding out her hand. "I'm Asuna. You must be one of the Scouts."

Asuna was younger than Mikasa expected. From what Mikasa gathered, Asuna was probably the main if not the most well known Medic/Doctor in the area. There had to have been a long series of experiences to gain that esteem and reputation of being able to heal and nurse many people back to health. Yet, Asuna looked the same age as Mikasa, perhaps maybe even a year older.

She had long strawberry blonde hair that stopped mid-back. It was styled with two small braids on either side of her temple that met in the back in a small bun-knot. It was a bit messy, no doubt because of the short notice trek she went through to come here. Her skin was light, close to Annie's, and she had brown eyes.

Mikasa shook her hand. "Im Mikasa. Thanks for coming on such short notice."

"Oh, wow," Asuna said with wide wondrous eyes. "It's you. Mikasa Ackerman, the Scout Regiment Captain. Thank you for everything that you have done to help us."

Mikasa raised her brows in surprise at the comment. She met Tauriel's eyes briefly, and Tauriel shrugged in confusion, unsure of what to say. Mikasa cleared her throat sheepishly and said, "Thank you, but I'm not a Scout anymore."

Asuna tilted her head to side in confusion. It seemed to Mikasa that the girl wanted to ask why, and the Captain braced herself. But then Asuna shrugged and said, "Whether you are or not anymore doesn't matter. You still helped save hundreds of lives, and I'm not just talking about the day of capturing the Female Titan within the walls. Im talking about everyday before and after that. So, thank you."
