Hyunwoo's POV
When his flight finally touched down in London, he felt a sense of relief wash over him. He never liked the flight attendant job, but it was best paying job he could find with his little academic qualifications.
His parents earned enough from their restaurant, but he preferred to earn his own keep, so he wouldn't be too much of a burden to them.
He had a sister, but he rarely saw her. He heard from some friends that she was already a millionaire. What's the point of being a millionaire if you don't even value family?
Hyunwoo stepped off the plane after all the passengers had alighted. His colleague, Seokwon, patted him on the back. "That was gruelling, wasn't it?"
Hyunwoo shook his head. "You should try an America-bound flight. It's even worse." Hyunwoo rubbed his shoulders wearily. Seokwon laughed as he swung his vest over his shoulder. "No thanks. This was bad enough."
He had about two days in London before he caught the flight back to Seoul. He checked out of the airport and began strolling along the streets of London. The scenery here is so nice.
He arrived at a shop selling little trinkets. Pushing the door open, the smell of freshly lacquered wood hit his nose. His mind wandered to his family back in Korea, still working at the restaurant.
I'll get them a small gift.
He then remembered Kihyun. The latter had so kindly accompanied him to the airport. It was only polite if he got him a gift to show him his appreciation. He was in the midst of choosing between a mini figurine of Big Ben and the London Bus when his phone started vibrating.
It was an unknown number. Hesitating for a while, he decided to pick up after all. The phone bills are going to shoot through the roof.
"Hello? Who is this?"
"It's me, Sihyeon. I just wanted to call to make sure you're fine."
Sihyeon? Since when did she even care if I was dead or alive? Hyunwoo frowned. He wasn't expecting a call from the woman who happened to be his sister.
"Please, take care of yourself. I don't want to-"
Hyunwoo rolled his eyes. Why does she even bother putting up an act? It's not like I don't know what kind of person she is.
"Sihyeon, calm down. I'm in the middle of London and I'm pretty sure nobody is plotting my death now. Just leave me alone and let me enjoy these two days."
He was about to hang up when Sihyeon's desperate voice made him change his mind.
"Look, Hyunwoo, I didn't want to break this to you earlier because I wanted you to go to work without having to worry about something else. But I guess, since you're still so untrusting of me, I have to tell you the truth."
Hyunwoo sighed. "Spill it and be quick."
"Someone is trying to hurt you. I'm not sure if he wants you dead, but just remember that there is someone out there with the intention of ruining your life."
Sihyeon paused.
"Beware of Kihyun."
Kihyun? The man who had accompanied him to the airport? What, he's planning to kill me? You've got to be kidding me.
Then it struck him. How did Sihyeon know Kihyun?
"Hey! Sihyeon! How do you know Kihyun? Answer me! Sihyeon?"
Sihyeon had hung up.
