He hid in the men's bathroom, staring at his reflection. He wanted to rip out the bracelet and flush it down the toilet. I can't! I'll be putting my life in danger. And who knows, even my family might fall into harm if I do this!
He slammed his fists onto the sink. I just want all of this end right now! His fingers closed around the bracelet. All it takes is for me to break the clasp, right here, for me to be free again. His fingers tightened.
Just do it, a small voice at the back of his head urged him.
At the very same moment, Kihyun's voice resonated through his mind.
I see you like playing your cards dangerously. I wouldn't if I were you.
Hyunwoo let go of the bracelet and let his hand fall to his side. The small voice returned, this time firmer and stronger.
Free yourself.
With a growl of frustration, he found the clasp and broke it off, and watched as the bracelet fell to the floor with a small tinkle. He stared in astonishment at the device which lay flashing. What did I just do?
He felt unusually happy and relieved. I'm actually free. He didn't even care if Kihyun was going to kill him for doing this. He'd at least get to enjoy freedom for a while, even if it were just for a few days.
He picked it up and dangled it before his eyes. To hell with you. With a wide smile, he dropped it into the toilet and flushed it down. An unspoken joy filled him from within. I feel like I could dance right here in the toilet.
With a satisfactory dust of his hands, he left the toilet, literally leaving his pain behind.
He headed to where Seokwon and his other colleagues were with a spring in his step. "Sorry for being so irritable just now, I think it's because I haven't been sleeping well." He bowed to each of them, all while wearing a playful grin on his face.
Although confused, Seokwon stepped forward and patted Hyunwoo on the back. "It's fine, we've all been there once." Hyunwoo flashed him a thumbs up and gestured for them to follow him.
"I know a great Chinese dim sum restaurant here. Follow me!"
Their laughs resonating around the empty airport hallway, the friends made their way to the aforementioned eatery. Hyunwoo had made it a point to forget about Kihyun.
To hell with you, Yoo Kihyun.
