ღi think i'm falling for youღ

Days here are pretty much the same. I wake, eat, talk to Finn, etcetera. Finn only leaves for occasional checkups and lunch; the only time he gets to socialize. I (for obvious reasons) am a prisoner to my bed. At least they have good channels here.

"Hey Millie," Finn begins, hints of a smirk evident in his voice.

"Could you do me a favor?"

Looking up from my cereal, I see Finn is seated at the foot of my bed holding a pencil and a sketchbook.

"It depends what that favor might be Finnie."
Arching an eyebrow, he lets out an airy laugh.

"Well if we're starting nicknames, yours will be...Mills."

Mills, I like that. Finn proceeds to raise a finger dramatically and points it at me. "Back to my question, Mills," he pauses his sentence to wink at me.

Why does he have to be such a flirt?

"I was wondering if you would be the focus of my latest portrait."
My heart stops momentarily, and a huge grin spreads on my lips.

"Really?" I squeak, unable to contain my excitement.

"Yep."

"Wait, but I look like a mess."

"Well, to me you look like art, but if you'd prefer I can fix up your hair in the drawing."

"Oh gee, thanks Finnie!" I tease while seating the teal bowl in my hands on my nightstand.

"I meant it in the nicest way possible."

I nod and force away a smile.

"Okay fine, I'll be your muse," I giggle.

No one's ever drawn me before, but that's probably because no one's ever cared about me till now.

"Alright, I want you to face towards me, but look down at your lap," Finn directs.

It's not hard, since I'm always in a sitting position due to my pillows. He bites his lip as he concentrates on his paper, creating delicate lines and flourishes with his pencil. The determination is set in his eyes. One of them is squinting more than the other, and both are shaded with his thick lashes. In the two weeks I've been here, I have to admit, at least to myself, that I'm falling for him. Falling in love with his personality, with his smile, with his voice. I've never fallen in love before, it feels like floating in a sense. Like my spirit is free from the cast entrapping my physical body. I wonder if Finn likes me too, if the flirting isn't only jokingly.

"Hey, I thought I asked you to keep your eyes down. Am I that irresistible to look at? I mean sure, my messy hair and nose tube is pretty sexy and all, but besides that there's not much to see," he laughs. My cheeks burn as I glance towards my hands, pale and cold. I haven't seen the sun in two weeks either.

"Your hair was sticking up, what do you expect Finnie?" I reply weakly.

He shakes his head and returns to his drawing. Five minutes have passed in silence when a small knock is heard at the door.

"Come in," Finn says quickly.

Nurse Tessa peers in at us then steps inside, a big grin forming.

"Millie, I have fantastic news! Your bones have begun fusing together, so you get to take the cast off."

My eyes light up and hope bubbles in my chest.

"D..does that mean I'll be able to walk?" Nurse Tessa's face falls.

"Well...no, but you'll get a wheelchair. At least you'll be mobile. Also, your dad dropped off some clothing and stuff for you."

She bends down and picks something up from the right of the cream door frame. Her shoes squeak on the linoleum as she brings the box to me. Finn stops drawing and tucks his pencil behind his ear while closing his sketchbook. Nurse Tessa carefully places the brown box on my lap. Inside is a few outfits (which I can hopefully wear soon), my laptop, my headphones, my iPod, and chargers for the electronics.

"He didn't want to see me?" I gulp.

Nurse Tessa whispers a quiet no. "Oh..ok."

I'm not disappointed, I didn't expect anything more from him, not even an apology. If anything, I would've thanked him. Because if he hadn't hurt me, I never would've met Finn, and he's the best thing that's ever happened to me.
