ღlate nightsღ
I tap softly on my computers keys, failing at any attempts to keep quiet. It's currently twelve forty two and I'm working on my story when I'm suppose to be sleeping; Dr. Ryder would kill me. Glancing to my left, I let out a light sigh. I wish my bed was the one near the window, I would love to see the stars twinkle once in awhile. Shaking my head lazily, I turn back to my glowing screen and type another sentence. Suddenly, Finn's bed groans as he turns and slowly props himself up on his elbows. It takes everything in my being to not stare at him, I've got to get this crush under control. I don't want to ruin our friendship.
"Wow you rebel you, still awake I see?" He laughs while rubbing his eyes. "Couldn't sleep, and writing always clears my head."
He nods and slumps against his beige pillow. "What are you working on currently?" Closing my laptop halfway, I lay back and stare at the cracking ceiling. Making eye contact with him is getting harder to do everyday.
"Well, I'm at the part where Mabel meets Frank's old best friend, Nick. They're currently in the woods and it's just beginning to rain. Nick is asking Mabel if he can accompany her on Frank's 'adventure'."
Finn's eyebrows shoot up as he smirks. "I'm intrigued Mills. Please, tell me more."
I giggle as he grabs his steel air-tank and the guest chair, placing himself beside me. Fully closing my laptop, I place it to my right and turn slightly to look at him.
"Okay, so I only have three different endings planned out, nothing in the middle."
"You know I would love to hear these endings, start with the first one."
"Hmm, in the first one Mabel finds a photograph of a wedding ring at Frank's grave and he appears to propose, only to have it be a dream," I rush out. I always get awkward and nervous talking about my writing, or anything I like for that matter.
"That's brutal!" Finn exclaims loudly and I try to shush him.
Once he calms down, he says "go on, I won't interrupt again."
"Thank you," I chuckle while running my fingers through my hair before I continue. "Second ending: Mabel wakes up in Frank's arms and the whole 'adventure' was just a dream; Frank never committed suicide."
Finn strokes his chin in a sarcastic manner as he waits.
"Lastly, Frank died and Mabel couldn't handle it, so she, herself, commits suicide."
Eyes bulging out of his face, Finn throws his hands in the air and retrieves his tank, going back to his bed.
"You just couldn't give poor Mabel a break, could you?!"
"Well, that's life Finn. We don't always get happy endings. You should know this of all people," as soon as the words roll off my tongue, I regret it.
"I..I'm sorry Finn, I didn't mean it like tha-"
"No no, it's okay. Only the truth," he admits in a monotone voice. I massage my temples and attempt relax into my bed while moving my laptop onto my cluttered nightstand. I should clean it when I have the chance, which will probably be when I get my wheelchair.
"Well....I'm gonna hit the sack, so, goodnight Mills. Sweet dreams."
"..Sweet dreams Finnie."
