(you're welcome for attacking you right off the bat)As the music slowed down to half the speed and the more mysterious sections of the music emerged, so did the audience's interest in the performance. Suga's hand creeped up Taehyung's neck, Hoseok trying to find his position quickly and grab on as well, "pulling down" the singer. Taehyung almost always failed to keep a straight face as the olders did so, yet this time there was a sense of calm sincerity.
When Jungkook began, his singing seemed more internal than usual, the notes floating above the instrumental. Jin and Namjoon covered the youngest's eyes, the formation then splitting for Jin to duck under a newly formed arm bridge.
I smiled a bit, watching Jin appear through the center. His steps forward were a bit stiff as he attempted to stay with the beat, yet his voice stayed clear and without strains.
As he continued, his movements stiff movements became one with the beat, seeming purposefully sharp instead of awkwardly nervous or unfluent.
a/n: i've started running out of dramatic descriptions of what's happening bc gdi they're all beautiful just look at the low quality gifs
As the chorus arrived for the third and final time, the audience had caught on and anticipated the ending.
a/n: sidenote that's the highlight gif ^^ (above)
They each raised their arm up together, ending in a still pose with their arms covering their faces.
a/n: unfortunately the m countdown performance ending was eh so i don't have a gif for the ending :[I wasn't the first to clap, because many people watching clapped and cheered before the instrumental even faded out, but I gave an happy and satisfied yell from the sidelines as well.
I didn't notice their heavy breathing until the lowered their arms, waving to the audience as they gave short bows and walked off stage. Taehyung, who was obviously tired, still picked up his pace to be the first one to greet me past the curtain. It felt like he had collapsed on me when his weight fell into some sort of hug. I tried holding him up, pulling him up by the shoulders.
Second was Jimin, who noticeably had a sweat running down the side of his face. He wiped it with the back of his hand, making an exhausted smile.
"That felt a lot more intense than practice." he commented, letting out a tired laugh as he moved to make way for the others. Not really caring about the sweat, I gave him a high five, although his slap back was quite weak. I glanced around, picking up my bag and grabbing one of the only extra plastic water bottles. He accepted it quietly, giving a little nod. I wanted to apologize for making him so tired, but the others were coming backstage with happy greetings towards me.
Jin arrived third, focused on untangling a white scarf-like cloth that had gotten caught on his microphone that hung from his ear. I hadn't even noticed it while he was performing, but I offered to help just a few seconds before he had gotten it off. He gave a satisfied smile and an appreciative "Thanks," after I had commented on how well the performance went.
I glanced out at the stage, Namjoon waving goodbye to someone and Suga standing next to him, saying something that I couldn't hear over the cheering. Hoseok was exiting stage with a few spins and happy jumps, and in front of him was Jungkook, who fulfilled my empty high-five as he passed by. He proceeded to wrap his arm around me in a one, handed hug as he adjusted his microphone.
Hoseok gave me a smile and a happy thumbs up, fanning himself. I noticed his sweat too, most of it under his bangs.
"That was crazy fun," he said, almost shouting, his voice higher and seeming energetic in a chirpy manner.
"You guys did great," I said, Hoseok giving a nod.
"It was so good, I'm still pumped up."
Jungkook let out a tired, "How?" with a laugh, Jimin still drinking the water slowly. More than half of it was gone and I started getting concerned that he was dehydrated.
"Rona~!" Namjoon shouted, running towards us and holding out both his hands for a double-high-five. I met both of them, the leader looking around at everyone else and going on about how great they did. They shared a celebratory cheer for themselves that I joined, which was also Suga's first words that I had heard after the performance.
I looked towards the rapper of few words, giving a small smile.
"You guys did great," I said softly, my smile growing more with a cheery nod.
Suga's stolid expression merged into a smile.
"Told you so."
