When the party began she saw more of her family. She strived for as minimal contact and stuck with Cadmar, Cayden and Mika for most of the time.
The darkness wasn't there she observed. He hasn't been around lately, she never even felt his presence when she would train in the early mornings. It was like he left. Vanished completely.
She danced with her friends and talked with some elders. She planted the fake smile she has been taught to perfect all her life.
A slow song comes along and Magnar comes to dance with her. She wanted to refuse him so badly but with the hundreds of eyes watching in anticipation, it was quite hard to do so. Suppressing the strong urge to roll her eyes and walk away she took his offered hand and followed him to the dance floor.
"You look lovely Adira."
"Go to hell." She seethed out through clenched teeth.
He chuckled softly as they swayed in time with the music. His hands were demanding, moving her everywhere. She did not like the feel of his hands at all, she felt as if she could wrench herself free and run away into the crowd.
"Soon you will learn to bear with me, you will soon share my life as yours."
"I do not need to share anything of yours. I have my own."
"Not for longer." He whispered into her ears making her cringe in disgust.
"I will always have my own, I will never concede to you Magnar understand that. One day I will kill you in your sleep and laugh at your screams of agony. I will bathe in your blood and smile into your dead eyes, tell me do you still wish to have me lay so close to you?" She saw his smile waver and he blinked, the fiery conflict he has fueled is more than he thought he could handle, he has just realized that.
"You've tried it once before Adira what makes you think I will allow it again?" He said swallowing down the fear bubbling in his throat.
It was her turn to chuckle sadistically. She sounded psychotic, rightfully, he was scared.
"I never make a mistake twice Magnar." The song ended and she walked away. That's when she felt it. The eyes.
She could never mistake those eyes for anything, she was so accustomed to them on her body it was like a sixth sense. Glancing around the room she searched for the pair of eyes that stared at her with a burning intensity.
None at first, none that held the emotion she felt on her back moments ago. Until she found the cloudiest, darkest, murkiest orbs of dark blue staring at her with the passion she felt. It was easy to see him in the crowd with his shroud of darkness but as she blinked again he was gone.
The eyes.
