"Lord Adira, pleasantries are for the formal, let's keep it familiar." Charles spoke, he was the oldest brother around the age of twenty-six.
Adira nodded in reply, remembering his face well, as she watched the four other brothers, familiarity ran deeply through her mind. They talked to her, their noise was great but she couldn't hear anything, everything was soundless and she struggled to understand.
It felt like she was underwater, that everything was just an unclear, regurgitated noise with no meaning. Finally she had enough. Guilt. It hissed it's self around the confines of her mind.
"Please, before you continue I have to apologize for the false accusations bestowed upon you for my attempted assassination. It was wrong and now that we understand the greater threat at hand I would like to personally ask for forgiveness."
The brothers stared at her, a sea of bottle green eyes regard her for seconds that felt like minutes. They all stood tall, like warriors in their cavalry before a battle. She felt scrutinized as their intense gazes stayed on the fixed point, her.
In her years of being exposed to the 'royal' side of everything, never has she had to apologize. She was usually forgiven or exempted from ever saying sorry, out of fear or anything else she got by. But this, was something different, this wasn't just a petty thing. War could've started due to these false accusations.
One gaze which caught her attention was Lucas, the second oldest. Rumors passing around said that he was a prospect for marriage to Adira. On the night of her poisoning he was supposed to have gotten to know her but the other societies had a different opinion. By the looks he was giving her, she could definitely believe the rumors were true.
His eyes tracked her every twitch, fidget and fiddle she made. Like a hunter tracking his prey, the inspection of quality. He liked what he saw, she realized that.
"You never had to apologize Adira, you were already forgiven. We understand you are the youngest, a girl. Their Queen. If it were anyone of my brothers I would be quick to blame also. However, the other Lords, like Cayden the one of iced eyes, he was rather persistent in trying to bring harm to Nicholas. An apology personally from them would be appreciated." Charles explained taking a step forward.
Adira smiled and bowed with grace, right before she was about to reply a loud slam crackled through the air disrupting the subtle quite tones the house held.
"Adira!"
