~Adira~
I woke up in bed with an over sized T-shirt covering me up. I was confused as to what happened the night before, my head was spinning and I felt the bile rise in my throat. I could feel eyes watching me from the shadows so I tried to grab the knife I kept on my nightstand but my vision was too blurry so my hand felt nothing.

The door opened just as Adira had her fingers wrapped around the knife making her freeze and ready herself to launch it at the person's head. Two large figures entered the room and closed the door behind them.

"Put down the knife Adira, we're not here to harm you." Familiar icy blue eyes stare at her while she lowers the knife slowly. Another figure steps out of the shadows unexpectedly which makes the knife take a defensive position in her hand once again. The three figures in her room stare at her expectantly waiting for her to drop the weapon.

"What happened?" She groans as the painful pulsation of her headache hits her. It takes a while to get her vision back from the blurry mess she woke up with.

Once the six figures lessened to three she took a deep breath in.

"It appears as though you were poisoned last night during the festivities." Cayden says breaking the silence that spread through the room. He cringed internally every time he looked at her, pale brown skin that is supposed to keep a sun kissed glow and dark circles under pitted honeyed eyes. The poor girl could barely keep herself upright.

"Poisoned? How could that be?" The confusion sets in, an almost childish tone taking her voice.

"Yes, well we suspect one of the northern brothers did it, possibly slipping something in your drink while you were distracted. They are masters of stealth, trickery and herbs it would be very easy for them to poison you." Cayden reasons taking a seat at the edge of her bed.

She's confused as ever now, slightly disoriented but mostly shocked. In her right mind however, she would not be surprised that someone attempted to kill her, that was not the case now.

"I don't get it, why would they want to kill me here? Any attempts would be immediately shut down and they would be jailed and charged, it simply does not make sense." She says shaking her head.

"Does not matter. What matters is there looks to be a set up amongst the Northerners and they are being investigated in relation to your attempted assassination. Is there anything that was out of the ordinary among the Northern brothers? Did they reach out over the table to try to touch you at any point? Were their hands ever in a close enough radius to poison your food?" Cadmar's gruff voice questions, he is not happy with the antics the Northerners have pulled especially on Adira.

Adira simply shook her head in reply trying to recall the memories from last night. Thinking made her head hurt so trying to remember anything was definitely out of the question.

"Perhaps it was the youngest? Nicholas? We found him with you before you passed out." Mika suggested.

She does remember that aspect of the night. She remembered the blood and the colour slowly draining away from his face as he rambled like a madman about a queen. In fact, he was doing quite the opposite of harming her.

"Nicholas, no it couldn't be him he would not have had the opportunity to. How is he by the way?" She asked, her voice shaky.

"He's recovering just fine. The cut was not deep enough, he didn't even need stitches. Pathetic." Cayden snorts trying to contain his laughter.

"If I was poisoned why am I not asleep or doing worse?" Adira questions feeling the pulse on her neck.

The three boys' faces turn serious once again and look at each other in anticipation.

"It was a semi-slow working poison, it would've taken full effect in the body by the third day of consumption. Three days puts the Northerners time to depart from our lands. That is one piece of evidence we have of conviction." Cadmar replies.

She purses her lips and nods, trying to digest everything that was said to her.

Adira spends her time gathering information and putting them together in her head, she has gotten so many death threats in her life but none have been followed through with, not until now.
