A sharp stinging sensation prickles the side of his cheek, jolting him awake. Disoriented, he looks around the room for any signs of the person that hit him.
A rustle from the shadows snaps his attention to the East side of the room ,however, he sees nothing but darkness. Another rustle has him sinking into the bedding.
"Nicholas." His name is smooth and silky rolling off her tongue. He tenses, gripping the sheets tighter to his body. His eyes roam the room looking for an exit.
She emerges from the dark and takes a seat right at his bedside staring at him with a burning glint of determination set in her golden eyes.
"You know I find you very interesting Nicholas. I thought I could earn your trust and make the ally between North and South even stronger, but you messed up." She ends the last statement with pointed eyes to kill. "For you to regain my trust you will do this, tell me which one of your brother's tried to kill me."
His face finally pales as he stares in horror at the honey eyed vixen.
"None, our intention was not to be threatening. None of my brothers have poisoned you. The threat resonates within your lands." Nicholas states.
"We have enough evidence against your family, but since I don't want this to end messily I have decided to move on. I just want to know who tried to kill me."
"No one my queen, I can assure you, they would never hurt you."
It takes a moment for Adira to conclude the little interrogation session as she takes moments to stare at Nicholas who keeps her strong gaze. "Very well, have a nice day Nicholas, and by the way if I were you I would not make my stay here too lengthy. I cannot control the actions of my companions." She says with a cold voice.
His hand moves underneath the blankets and she eyes it carefully. Out he pulls the diamond encrusted dagger. Her breath catches in her throat as the jewels shines in her eyes.
"Nicholas..." her voice trails off.
"Relax Adira, it's yours. You need it, keep it safe." he offers it to her. Slowly she reaches for it, to see if he will make any attempts to cut her with it. When he doesn't she grabs it and inspects it, the diamond appearing even more exquisite now.
"It's easy to clean." He whispers with a smile. She gives a small smile back.
"There's also another thing it does, uh...you see that button there." he points to a shallow button on the hilt of the dagger. "Press it."
Pressing it, the dagger opens up to a longer, even more menacing looking Katana with a diamond encrusted handle. Her eyes widen with surprise, and then fill with excitement. She laughs and so does the Northern Lord.
"Do you like it? I designed it myself, forged with Titanium, it's stronger than a tank's armour." He says nervously.
Getting up from her seat and walking towards the window to his room she looks at him, " I love it Nicholas." she says before exiting.

While Adira recovered, meetings were held amongst the Lords and future Lords about the situation and investigation. More than enough evidence lead them to believe the Northerners were behind the attempted assassination of Adira but it just didn't make sense. The Northerners have always been allies with them, there was no reason for them to do that sort of a thing. Plus, they would not have just embarked on such a task so blindly.
The person behind the attack is from another society, smart to embark on a mission and have it set up so that the North would pay. That only meant one thing, they were being watched.
That same evening a major conference was held and broadcasted on the airways where everyone watched. Certainly by now the society would have started to whisper around about what they think is happening.
"Good afternoon citizens of the Southern Society. This is a brief but important broadcast. Information shared in this broadcast can either be the high point or the breaking point for us. Getting down to business we shall keep this short, there is a spy among us. A spy from a different society who has come into our lives to cause havoc around the society. This spy poses a major threat to us, this spy has attempted to murder one of our own. We will not stop until this spy is caught and brought to justice. If you have seen or encountered anything of suspicion please notify us. Please citizens, this is your responsibility to help in the search for a threat that very well endangers your livelihood. Thank you all." Donovan ends a concise message.
That simple address to the society, changed it all. After the address from Donovan the town erupted into a frenzy. Paranoid citizens kept a keen eye out, others spread rumours about the broadcast. More specifically the absence of Adira in all of it.
