Lunch.
She had made it the whole day without talking to Adrien.
But how was she going to avoid it now?
She sighed and pulled herself over to their usual table.
Alya and Nino were sitting next to each other, and since the table was set up with only four seats, she had to sit next to Adrien.
It was probably better than sitting across from him though, because she could easily turn her head away if he were beside her.
"How are you?" Alya whispered, though Marinette was sure that Nino already knew something was wrong, and had surely told her.
Marinette couldn't get herself to break it to Alya, she had tried just as hard, if not harder, to get them together.
"I'm okay, just super tired." Marinette sighed, trying to convince them that was all that was wrong.
Alya looked unsure, but nodded anyways.
Well, finally, but dreadfully for Marinette, Adrien came walking up.
With his stupid pretty face.
His built body
His sparkling green eyes.
Oh and there was a spark alright, one lighting Marinette's aching heart on fire.
She knew she would have to accept it, but she couldn't just yet. She was just greatful that Adrien hadn't gotten himself a girlfriend....that would be a train wreck.
Adrien brought himself to his seat, smiling to the group.
And to Marinette's surprise, sat right where he usually did, right next to Marinette.
Marinette visibly jumped, but Adrien hadn't noticed considering he had just sat down.
She couldn't show him pain....
But no matter how much she tried, whenever she looked at him, all she felt was pain. She couldn't sit next to him for too long, she might break down. She sniffled, wiping her red nose, allowing the other 3 teens start a conversation.
"You seem happy Adrien." Nino pointed out, shoveling a spoonful of whatever that 'food' was.
"I am." Adrien smiled, doing the same as Nino.
"Any reason?" Alya questioned, glancing over towards Marinette.
Marinette shook her head slightly, and Alya sighed. Their movements meant something, but the guys wouldn't understand.
"Because I've got such great friends." Adrien's smiled never left.
Talk about a stab to the heart. Marinette turned away from Adrien, slightly turning body in her seat. She felt uncomfortable.
But maybe that's how he felt as well.
But why?
She could admit she was obsessed. But she never let him see that.
It wasn't like Marinette was a clingy crush, if anything, she was the opposite. She wished he would've never known about her crush. She wished she would've never liked him in the first place.
She wished she would've never forgave him for the gum incident.
She wished......
The list could go on. But the conversation continued, pulling her from her thoughts.
"Marinette? You good?" Nino asked, breaking a gaze Marinette didn't know she was having. She akwardly sat straighter, facing the group.
"U-umm y-yeah." she stuttered, nearly choking on her words.
