Marinette ran as far as she could, but soon realized she was far from home. She wasn't in the part of Paris she knew, but in a broken, dark area. She slowed her pace, though her heart pounded. She had stopped a few times, to catch her breath, but never once thought of her surroundings.
Her eyes were glossy, as she realized a tear was rolling down her cheek.
How long had she been in a trance?
She walked down the sidewalk, before slipping into an alleyway.
"Tikki..." she whispered.
The small red creature flew from her purse, glancing around to make sure that the coast was clear.
"Where are we...?" the little bug squeaked, her voice a hushed whisper.
"I'm not sure...." she mumbled, leaning against the alley wall.
"Maybe you should l-" suddenly, the creature cut herself off and dodged into her handbag.
"Marinette?" a voice called from across the alley.
Marinette knew that voice, she used to try and savour every moment she got to listen to it. But now, she wasn't so sure.
It sounded wounded, and worried, but she couldn't feel too bad.
She turned to make eye contact with the blonde staring at her. Those beautiful green eyes were too much at the moment.
She felt her eyes watering, threatening to spill over the edge.
The boy ran up to her, and wrapped his arms around her like a cozy sweater. She wanted to be engulfed by his scent, and his warmth. She wanted to wrap her arms around him, squeeze him til it physically hurt.
But she didn't.
She just stood there. Her eyes wide, and a tear rolling down her cheek.
"What....?" Marinette spoke, a bit sarcastically.
Why? Did she think it was better to be mean than weak?
Adrien seemed to ignore her tone of voice.
"Do you realize how worried everyone is??!?" he shouted, a bit louder than intended. He held her by the shoulders, and that was when she realized how worried he really looked.
She shook him off of her shoulders.
"What are you talking about?" she stepped back, shaking her arm as if his hand had spread some sort of disease.
What is wrong with me....???
He looked wounded, but he blinked it away, and stared at her like she was crazy.
"Do you realize what time it is!!?" he spoke quieter this time, but it was clear this conversation wasn't a calm one.
"No....?" She looked into the sky, to see the stars peeking out in darkening blue.
Her eyes widened as she looked back to Adrien, who was looking back at her.
"7:00. It's 7:00. How did you get this far?" Adrien was trying to make sense of her expressions, but simply couldn't. She looked confused, and angry, and upset...and a jumble of others.
"I...I don't know."she answered truthfully, glancing around at her surroundings.
Now that she got a better look at it all, she realized she had never even heard of this place before. She's probably fought akumas here....so why didn't she remember it?
