Time flies when you're having fun.
That's what they say.
But sometimes it flies right around you, and everyone else is moving on with their lives. And you're stuck.
You can't just forget the past. It's impossible. You can think of other things, try to get your mind off of it. But the past is always there, mocking you, reminding you of all the times you've failed.
Now you can either laugh about it, look back and think it's funny. Or you can let it get to you, and never grow past that one thing you hated. The past will always be with you, be a part of you. But that doesn't mean it defines you. You are not the past. You are creating the future.
But it's always harder than it sounds.
Still lunch time
Marinette stared off, looking around the cafeteria as if she were looking for something.
Words to say?
Something to think?
She didn't know.
Her friends seemed to notice her blank look, and all slowly silenced themselves. They turned their attention to Marinette, though, she didn't notice.
"Mari?" Alya spoke, breaking Marinette from her trance.
"Huh?" she turned her head to find her three friends just staring at her.
"You okay?" Nino joined in.
"Oh yeah, I'm fine." she smiled, speaking without a single stutter.
"You haven't eaten anything." Adrien pointed out.
That was right. She hadn't even realized.
That made her think of Chloe. When Chloe had pointed out her weight. Her sweater. It didn't bother her really, but it was still a thought.
How long ago was that? Maybe she could think about that instead.
"I'm not hungry." She shook her head with a smile.
"You guys continue. Don't worry about me."
The friends slowly drew there attention back to the conversation they were having before they noticed Marinette.
She thought about Chloe's words. About how they stung. About how she pretended she didn't care. And she didn't then.
But the more and more she thought, the more she started to feel like Chloe wasn't wrong.
She was already acting for Adrien and her friends. Why not bend and shape herself to what Chloe wanted to? Was there anything better to do?
No that wasn't right. Was it?
She couldn't focus on one thing at a time.Or really anything for that matter. All she knew was what society wanted. That's all she ever knew, for the past 3, almost 4 years, she'd been kept in close eye.
If society wanted her to be walked all over. That's what she'd do. What she'd been doing. Ladybug was the hero, she answered every call.
