He hugged the mask a little too tight that night. And ironically, he got even less sleep.
Thinking of her was enough to wake him up and give him the energy for each day. It was cheesy, maybe a little cliche. But it's cliche for a reason, because it's true.
It's hard to believe in love in a world like ours. Especially when it's oh so easy to pick and choose. But you better bet he believed in it.

Marinette awoke with a shiver, as the cool air hit her arms. She looked up with half-closed lids to find her balcony door slightly open.
"Frick." She sighed, rubbing her eyes and sitting up to close it.
"Oh I didn't even notice that." Tikki spoke sleepily, raising her head from the pillow.
"It's alright. Let's just hope no bugs got in." After a moment of silence, the two giggled, thinking back to when Tikki had first appeared to Marinette, and how she had called her a 'bugrat'.
Marinette swung her leg over to her ladder, faintly remembering her leg was trapped in an itchy cast. She had attempted to shove a pencil in it to scratch that one stupidly annoying itch, but Tikki scolded her for it.
She traveled slowly down the ladder, before flopping on the ground. She would always get down using her butt for leverage, and get up with the help of her good leg and her opposite knee.
"Tikki I'm tired of this." She shook her head.
"It's your own fault." Tikki pointed out, placing herself on Marinette's desk.
"Yeah yeah." She sat up, worming her way over to the outfit she had picked out last night.
A pair of leggings and a big shirt. Because she couldn't be bothered with good clothes today. Her leggings were perpetually stretched at the ankle from tugging them over the cast.
She had even cut a small slit at the cuff to accommodate her unfortunately larger than normal foot.
She grabbed her crutches and pulled herself up.
"This is starting to hurt," She started, rubbing where the crutches pushed under her arms.
"I think I have an idea." She grinned to herself, hoisting herself over to her bathroom, where she pulled out two hand towels.
She wrapped them around the arm rests of the crutches, and secured them with hair ties.
"Very creative of you." Tikki laughed.
"It's better than nothing!" Marinette laughed as well, braiding her hair.
"I'll make some cushions later today,"
She finished up and turned to Tikki, who was floating just outside the bathroom door.
"How do I look?" Marinette 'posed' as best she could.
"Comfortable."
That, she was. Well for the most part.
And she headed downstairs for school.

Ah science, the one class with tables. The one class where you sat two by two.
Excluding home room of course. And today, she had just happened to be placed next to Adrien.
She wasn't over him. Far from it. And he certainly wasn't making it easy for her. The way he would push his hair from his face, and how he silently tapped his pencil.
