Him
The next day was our last in America. The remaining performances were full of screaming fans, ringing ears, and tired eyes. Everybody on staff was working overtime and on roughly two hours of sleep. We still had to make the concert run seamlessly one last time before we could get a break. I was so relieved when the finale arrived. I loved our ARMY but I would love a bit of sleep more.
As we waved goodbye to the audience, the crowd started singing the last few notes of Spring Day as a whole. The confetti went off, startling some of the fans in the front row. It rained down in shimmering drifts, making the crowd sing louder. Tears were abundant on the stage and shimmered on the faces of our ARMYs. I was sad to go, but we would come again next year with an even bigger concert venue.
"We love you, ARMY!"
I felt the tears start coming as we bowed to the crowd. In the rows closest to the stage, I could see each face individually. I tried to meet each of their eyes, of the surroundings of my brothers around me. This would be a day to remember for a very long time. And I wanted every detail of it.
We walked onto the main stage and bowed with our backup dancers one last time. I felt so proud of my brothers and of our ARMY. As we grew closer to the stage exits, I walked up and put my Pikachu hat on Jungkook. He smiled that adorable bunny smile of his. He practically bounced as he walked out to show off to the fans his new prize. A camera quickly zoomed in on him. His face was suddenly being projected all across the stadium. Fans were screaming. Camera flashes seemingly came from every angle.
I couldn't help but laugh. It was too cute! I noticed out of the corner of my eye that the others were already walking in. Jungkook had to jog to keep up with us. I lingered, savoring the feel of the stage and gave the crowds one a smile. I waved one last time to the audience before walking backstage.
The arena went black behind me. Lights and screens were shutting down one by one. I froze in place, trying to let my eyes adjust to the sudden blackness. A soft hand closed around my wrist. I jumped in surprise.
"Sanbē?"
I grinned, though no one could see it. "Miss Hiroko?" My eyes finally adjusted. I could vaguely make out the outline of her face.
"Hai," Her voice was enough to make my knees weak. "Come on, we have to go." She didn't move to let go of my wrist. I didn't pull away.
I followed her back to the main dressing room area through dark tunnels and dim hallways. We eventually caught up with the other members. She let go of my wrist when she saw Jimin staring at her. She lowered her eyes and moved behind me into the shadows.
"J-Hope!" Suga yelled over the bustle of the room. I looked over to where he was standing with the rest of the group. Jimin was slowly drifting in their direction. "We're going to take the picture soon."
"I'll be there in a sec!" I called after him. I turned back to Hiroko. "Do you happen to have any camera experience?"
She nodded, brow furrowing in confusion. "Yes, that's what I specialize in. But why?"
I grabbed her hand without answering her question and led her over to where we were going to take the pictures. Jungkook glanced between her and me warily.
"You know how to use it, noona?" He cradled the camera like a child would its toy doll. He was extremely protective of his beloved camera.
"Hai, I do."
He gingerly handed his camera to her. "Be careful, yeah?" He ran over to the couch where the rest of us were seated.
She crouched down and focused the lenses. "Hana, dul, se!" She snapped several pictures as we smiled and switched between our signature poses.
As we stood up and congratulated each other on an excellent performance, Hiroko slipped into the background, taking candid pictures of us. Jungkook caught sight of her. He gave her a big thumbs-up and grin before continuing his conversation with V.
I didn't notice Jimin until he tapped me on the shoulder. I jumped in surprise. "Ah!"
He blushed. "Oh, sorry to startle you, hyung." Jimin followed my gaze to where I had been looking before he had interrupted me. "Who is she, hyung? I've never seen her around before."
"Who, her?" I nodded in her direction with my water bottle. She moved through the room like a shadow, camera shutter clicking like a second heartbeat. It was easy to tell why she had specialized in photography. She moved through the crowd with fluid grace, every group stopping her to snap a picture for them. I couldn't help but smile. Jimin noticed it with raised eyebrows.
"Her name is Hata Hiroko. She's the replacement for Somin until she can come back to work." I gave him a funny look as he continued to stare at Hiroko. "Why do you want to know?"
His eyes were full of innocent curiosity. "I've seen her somewhere before. Her poise and smile...they are familiar. But I can't remember where I would have met such a beautiful girl."
My heart pounded harder. "W-what did you just say?"
"I said she's beautiful." He took one last, lingering look at Hiroko. Jealousy burned a hole through my heart. "Anyone with two brain cells can see that, J-Hope hyung. Can you?"
