Her

We were whisked off to the hotel as soon as our feet touched the outside of the airport. The arranging of rides was a blur of suitcases, loud voices, and the moving of equipment. Blessedly, there wasn't a single fan insight as we finally left for the hotel.

I slipped on my sunglasses as the sun finally decided to show itself over the horizon. I was so tired. Sleeping on a bumpy flight was awkward and uncomfortable. Especially when you are sitting next to someone you know fancies you.

I shot a calculating glance in my friend's direction. Other than the constant questions, Chai had acted no different than normal. I was relieved that he had actually been asleep through my confession. I did feel slightly guilty. He was my first friend in Korea. Knowing him, he would probably just get all over-protective like the big brother I saw him as. Only, he wouldn't see it as being an older brother to me. He would see it as protecting what he thought was his. He was so arrogant sometimes it was pitiful.

I thought of Hoseok and how easy it had been to be around him. It was nothing like it had been meeting Chai. That had been full of awkward pauses, denied requests, and halting periods of friendliness and flirting all of Chai's part.

I wasn't quite sure what Hoseok was thinking this would turn into. Was this simply going to be a summer fling? Or did he have other, more long term intentions? I prayed silently-- rebelliously-- that it was the second option.

Other than the embarrassing run-in on the tarmac, I hadn't seen any of the members as we traveled to the hotel we'd all be staying at. I was crammed into a transport vehicle with Chai and some of the backup dancers as a last-minute seating decision. I didn't know anyone so I sat contentedly and stared out the car's window. I listened to music to pass the time and watch the scenery zip by in colorful blurs.

There was no doubt about it. Hawaii was gorgeous. The sky was melting from the golden glow of sunrise into a lovely taffeta blue. Some of the clouds were dusted pink by the rising sun. The bay that ran alongside the highway was as still and clear as crystal.

I had been shocked by the oppressive humidity. The heat had hit me like a brick wall stepping off the ramp. I was glad I had pulled my hair back into a braid before leaving the plane. It was already starting to frizz and poof up in the heat.

I closed my eyes to block out the worried expression on Chai's face. What was he so concerned about? I had been three times as quiet when we first met. The drone of the car's engine and the hum of the AC lulled me into a shallow slumber.

I stepped into the hotel lobby and instantly spotted Ara. She was flirting in passable English with a handsome but flustered looking man behind the front desk. I rolled my eyes. Typical.

Yoon Ara was gorgeous and was one of the few female friends I had made since entering the industry. It had been Chai who had introduced us on my first day. She had perfect skin, a fit build, and a bubbly laugh that made guys go crazy. Luckily for the rest of us, she had a boyfriend serving in the army. Unknown to her, he was planning on proposing to her when he returned from duty in three months. BigHit had been wary about hiring her but due to her outstanding skills as a choreographer and cinematographer, they couldn't resist snatching her up for the company.

I still couldn't believe my own luck at getting hired. Part of the reason behind it was Chai. He had been able to pull a few strings behind the scenes with the photography department. The rest had been handled by my college professor, Mr. Tang, who was close drinking buddies with some of the higher-ups in BigHit's management.

Ara glanced around as she spoke to the man. Her face lit up when she spotted me. "Hiro-ah!" She forgot all about the desk manager. He looked relieved as she darted away to give me a hug.
