Him
"As long as it's with you,"
Those words echoed around in my head, ringing like bells. I whooped and spun around, laughing outrageously. She shrieked and held to my hands tightly.
"Hoseok! Stop, I'm getting dizzy!" Her hair started to come loose. Her bun came unpinned and her long hair fell into her eyes.
"Never!" I shouted. She looked so happy at that moment. Happier than I'd seen her backstage. Happier than with her friends in the lobby. I drifted to a stop and pulled her in close.
"Never," I pressed my lips to the crown of her head. Her rose-scented perfume wafted over me as I held her. I opened my eyes to a small crowd of natives and tourists clapping their hands and cheering. Hiroko ducked her face out of view, ears turning a bright shade of pink.
I smiled and wrapped my arms around her. "Hiro-ah," She hid her face behind her hand. "Hiro~"
"Yah," She put a hand to my chest and lightly pushed me away as the crowd dispersed. "You aren't my boyfriend yet, babo. What are you doing sweet things like that for?" Her face burned a bright scarlet as she spoke.
"Hiro..." I was at a loss for words. She was right. I hadn't even known her for that long. I sighed, my mood dampened. "I'm sorry, Hiroko. Let's go before people start talking."
She slipped her hand in mine as we walked, further confusing me. Her eyes glinted with the humor of a private joke. I raised an eyebrow at her but she just shrugged her shoulder innocently. We walked to a less crowded section of the beach. A few outlying tourists milled about and flashed us a few friendly smiles.
I thought over her words carefully as we walked. I had missed something and she was playing around with how long it would take me to figure it out. Something in what she had said had been important...
Realization dawned on me like a bucket of ice water dumped over me. She had said I wasn't her boyfriend yet. Did this mean she wanted to be with me? I had to ask.
I spun around to face her with our hands clasped in the middle, smiling like a madman. Her hazel eyes flashed with surprise. "You said yet!"
"It took you that long to realize it?" She said, giggling. I pulled her in close and scooped her up in my arms.
"Hoseok!" She yelled defiantly, though I heard the laughter in her voice. "I'm going to kill you for this! Put me down!"
Did I mention I loved hearing her speak informally?
"Ha! You can try." I made for the surf, kicking off my flip flops as I went. They landed in the sand a few feet away. I shrugged her off my shoulder with ease near where my shoes fell.
She brushed her hair out of her face and glared up at me. "You have to stop doing that," She said accusingly.
We were only inches apart. I took a step closer. "I don't think I want to," I said challengingly.
She raised an eyebrow at my response. I had to stop myself from leaning forward and kissing her right there and then.
"Hoseok-" Before she could move or say anything else, I tugged off the straps of her backpack.
"What the he-?" I cut her off by pressing my finger to her lips. Her eyes sparkled with a mixture of emotions. Confusion, delight, curiosity, and what I thought was a bit of a challenge.
"Spoilers," I whispered. I dropped her backpack down next to my shoes. I picked her again and sprinted into the surf.
Hiroko clung to my neck tightly, squealing loudly as the tide rolled over us. When I reached approximately chest-deep, I dropped her. She crashed in with a shout. I nearly fell over from laughter.
