Him

The pool erupted in to sound. People yelled at Chai, at Hiroko, at the swimmers in the pool. Had someone jumped on top of another person? I lost track of Jimin. My head went under. 'What was happening?'

I resurfaced, sputtering. "Jimin!"

"H-Here," He coughed. "What happened? Why is everyone yelling?"

"That f***ing drunk idiot grabbed a girl and jumped in. " Dohyun said, pulling at his hair. "He didn't even look if he jumped on anyone." He turned to see who he was talking to. "Oh, J-Hope, Jimin. I didn't know you two were in the pool."

Jimin flashed him a cute smile. "Hey, Dohyun."

"Do you want to strangle him first, or should I?" I growled.

A head popped up a few feet ahead of our small group. Chai stood up straight, smiling like a maniac. A slightly smaller head surfaced a few moments later. Hiroko slapped him across the cheek. Chai spun around in a circle from the blow.

"You awful, terrible idiot!" She raged. She smacked him again. Her hand left a red outline on his cheek. Cheers from some of the backup dancers egged her on. Jimin was bent over, cackling.

Dohyun pulled Hiroko away before she could slap Chai again. "Take it easy, Hiroko. The guys will take care of Chai." She didn't look like she liked that answer but she let him guide her away from Chai anyways.

Jimin whooped and jumped up and down. "Nice one! You decked him real good."

She looked confused. "What are you still doing here? Didn't you guys leave -" She saw me. "Oh, no." She covered her face in her hands. I rolled my eyes. She could deck a guy in front of all the staff but couldn't handle seeing me?

"You watched it all, didn't you?"

I laughed broadly. "Sure did. Remind me not to get on your bad side next time you're doing my hair. I don't want it dyed green when I wake up." She cracked a lopsided smile.

Dohyun patted her shoulder in a brotherly way. "I'm going to go see about Chai. Maybe I can get him reported for sexual harassment this time around."

She gave his hand a grateful squeeze. "Thank you, Dohyun."

He winked. "Any time, Hiroko. The dance team's behind you all the way." He gave her a miniature salute then headed out of the pool.

I watched him go. "What was that?"

Hiroko squeezed some water out of her hair. Her ponytail had come out in the subsequent crash into the water. "The backup dancers kind of took me in as a mascot or something like that. All of them know me because of Chai but I really only know him and Dohyun on the crew. It's actually a funny story."

Jimin bobbed in the water. His head and shoulders the only part of him not submerged. "What did Dohyun mean when he spoke about getting Chai reported again, Hiroko?"

She huffed. "He's a good friend but when he gets drunk- even just a little bit- he loses all sense of reasoning. This is the fourth time he's tried to do something I've asked him not to. Every time I report it, Jina overlooks it. Hopefully, Dohyun can get a complaint through this time." She rubbed her arms like she was cold even as a balmy ocean breeze blew passed.

"Hiroko!" The Chinese woman called, cutting off what I was going to say. "Come out of the water, Hiro, you're shivering!" She reached out over the water. Hiroko sighed, rolling her eyes.

"I better go. I'm sorry about all the drama tonight." She splashed her way to her friend. She looked one last time over her shoulder at me. Our eyes met. She held my gaze. A pang of longing cut through me like a knife. Her apologetic expression made my insides ache. I stuffed down my feelings, trying to deny what they meant.

Her friend said her name again. Hiroko turned away and got out of the pool. Her friend fluttered around her nervously and wrapped Hiro in a large fluffy towel.

Jimin stood up in the water next to me. A sopping wet hand patted me on the shoulder. "Do you want to leave, too, hyung?"

I nodded numbly. No point staying if it only made me want to hollow out my insides.

"Okay. Let's go back to our room and watch a movie with Jungkook and V." He said everything with such ease. I wished I felt the same way.

As I stepped out of the pool, I tried to keep her on the side of my vision. Her eyes never flashed my way. I wanted to talk to her in private so badly but I knew that wasn't going to happen with her friend here.

I slipped my shirt over my glistening wet shoulders. I didn't care if the fabric stuck funny to my back and chest. I didn't care about a lot of things at the moment. At least, I tried not to.
