Chapter 19
.
I thought about those words. That I was Harry Styles' girlfriend. That he was my boyfriend. I had always wanted to be able to say those words. To be able to think them without feeling creepy or weird. This just felt right. It felt like I was saying "The sky is blue" or "The ocean is made of water". It came easy, and it felt like second nature.
The only thing was, would I really be able to say it? Did Harry want to cover it up, or was it open season?
"So are we going public with this?" I asked nervously.
"Maybe not for the first little while" he said, rubbing his neck. "I'll have to tell management, and then we can go from there."
I was beginning to resent management a little, but I understood. It was going to be the price I would have to pay, that our relationship wouldn't just be dictated by ourselves.
I then began to wonder how the fans are going to take it. I knew that I was going to be getting a lot of hate, but hopefully I could come to earn their respect. Maybe I could even become their friend like Danielle or Eleanor. What was I thinking? I was a fan. There shouldn't be any problem there.
"What time is it there?" Harry asked me, noticing that my room was dark. My overhead lamp wasn't on, so the computer shed the only light in the entire room. This meant that my face was alight in a blue glow. That sounds attractive.
I looked over at my electric alarm clock, shocked to see that it was now 7:30 pm. We had been on Skype for an hour and a half. I wasn't complaining.
"It's only 7:30 here" I replied. I saw that his room was the opposite of mine; bright, warm, and cheery.
"It's 8 am" he said yawning. I knit my eyebrows together.
"Boy, did you get any sleep since you left Los Angeles?" I asked, genuinely concerned. He couldn't lose sleep. They had shows to perform, interviews to do, fans to charm. He needed his beauty rest.
"No.." he said sheepishly.
"Then you should go catch a nap, Harry. You know that you'll need it later on today. I'm guessing you guys are running a tight schedule." I said gently. He yawned again.
"I'm fine, really. I just want to keep talking" he said adorably. "I miss you."
"I miss you too" I said. "But we both know you'll regret being this tired later."
"Today management are letting us have a vacation day" he said smiling. "Nothing heavy duty will be happening today."
"Maybe not today, but tomorrow, and the next day, as long as you're there. Enjoy Austrailia. Have fun with the boys. Get some rest. I'll just be a Skype call or tweet away" I said smiling. I couldn't rest easy myself knowing that he was losing sleep just to talk to me.
He sighed. "There's no arguing with you, is there?" he said teasingly.
"Don't you ever forget it" I replied, sticking out my tongue.
"Goodnight Onika" he said sweetly. "I love you."
"Goodnight Curly Boy. Get some sleep. Love you too" I said, smiling as widely as I could.
He yawned again as he clicked exit on our conversation, and I was left giggling. He was trying so hard to play off the fact that he was exhausted. It was cute. But he needed his rest. Whenever he needed me, I would be waiting. Lois Lane would always be here, just waiting for her Superman to call.
.
After I exited Skype, I shut down my computer. I changed my tank top for a varsity sweater, a much comfier option. I tied my hair up into a ponytail, and then slowly walked upstairs.
