Chapter 27- Marilyn Monroe
.
"Onika. It's time to get up" a voice whispered as I was pushed around in my bed.
"What the...?" I said, but I was quickly hushed. I looked into the face of Lou Teasdale, her finger pressed against her lips. She was dressed in a cute pair of union jack Pjs. Why on earth as she here at this ungodly hour?
"It's only 5:30, and I don't think you'd like to wake up your friend here" she said, motioning to Justine, who was snoring away in the plush Queen sized bed beside me.
That's when it hit me. Today was the day; I was going to sing in front of thousands onstage with One Direction. I almost had to grab the bin beside me, I was so nervous.
All I wanted to do was climb back in my comfortable bed and wake up from this mini nightmare.
Instead, I was pulled out of my posh room by the petite Ms. Teasdale, pyjamas and all, into her suite a few doors down. Caroline was waiting for us already, still in her pyjamas as well, but looking as fabulous as always.
"Good morning" I said, yawning like a cat. I was thinking more along the lines of "Kill me now" but I didn't let that show too much.I think she caught a hint of annoyance anyways.
"Morning sunshine. Welcome to the life of a star" she said teasingly, noticing my tiredness. I managed a half-smile.
"I'm supposed to..." I started, hoping they would tell me what I was supposed to do at 5:30 am. I was used to waking up at 10:30 at the earliest, and I was already zoned out.
"You're going to pop into my shower there. Use these" Lou said, handing me an armful of products. Scented body wash as well as specialty shampoos and conditioners loaded into my arms, I waited for my next instructions, because I knew there would be many more.
"When you come out, we're going to prep you for the day, and give you your day outfit. Then we'll go down to breakfast with the boys and get this day on a roll" Caroline explained.
"Day outfit?" I said confused. I had planned on wearing sweats and such to practice. I hadn't expected them to already have an outfit picked for me to go and everything.
"Don't question, just get washing. We only have so many hours in the day!" Lou said. "And sing as you go, we need to hear you!" she said, shooing me into the bathroom as she talked. I was just in the door when she closed it roughly behind me.
"We'll just be getting ready out here while you wash. You have about 30 minutes" Caroline's muffled voice said, drifting over from behind the closed door. I had better get cracking.
I found two towels from the luxurious linen closet, and dropped my pjs, climbing into the shower. I turned on the hot water, and started to sing the first thing that came into my mind; Marilyn Monroe by Nicki Minaj.
"I can be selfish, yeah so impatient, sometimes I feel like Marilyn Monroe" I belted out, shampooing my hair as I went. I loved this song, as as I sang through the lines, their truth hit me. Everybody makes mistakes, we just have to know how to go forward from there. It brought a smile to my face, and I continued to sing, growing more confident. I could do this. I WILL do this. I will make Harry proud, I'll make everybody proud tonight. I wasn't scared anymore; I was ready.
After I finished that song, I sang a few others, like Face Down by The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus and also Kids by MGMT.
Through the steam and heat, I heard Lou's pretty accent call out.
"Brilliant! Try one of the boys songs" she said, and smiling I began to sing my favourite, Another World. I was just finishing my shower when I sang the last note, and I heard some clapping from the other side of the door. I blushed. Their applause was followed by a quick knock on the door.
