Chapter 23
.
I was stunned, frozen to the spot. Every directioner imagines the boys showing up at their house. But for this to be real? Sure, I had better odds than most girls, but it was still surreal. There was Louis, decked out in stripes and Toms, still chuckling about their prank. Niall's blonde head was poking out of one of the bedrooms, blue eyes twinkling. Liam was holding back a chuckle, leaning out of another room, arms folded across his chest. And Zayn had walked out into the hallway, not a hair out of place, laughing at the tangled mess on the floor.
Harry looked like he was as stunned as I was. His crisp suit was a tad rumpled, just like his hair. His accusing eyes were darting towards each of the boys, who were getting a kick out of the whole thing. But then he smiled, and let a laugh rip free. Soon all the boys were laughing and hugging like long lost brothers.
I stood to the side, watching in awe. I for one was still confused. Weren't they supposed to come later today, but just to Toronto?
I let the boys have their fun and didn't want to interrupt their moment, so I tip-toed back downstairs for some air. I quietly opened the door, and stepped outside into the cool night air.
I sat down in a patio chair and took a deep breath. It was the middle of the night, and the stars were twinkling as bright as ever. The moon was starting to set, saying goodnight to me.
I started to think over everything that had happened today, starting wirh Harry showing up at my doorstep. That alone was probably the most sweet, romantic thing anyone had ever done. Period. But to happen to me? I didn't comprehend it. I didn't understand any of it. It makes sense for Danielle, a dancer and Eleanor, a model. I was a girl who worked at Tim Hortons. Yet One Direction were laughing it up upstairs in the house I had grown up in, spent my whole life in.
After pondering this, I let myself back into the house. That's when I heard my parents chuckling in their master bedroom down the hall. They had known about this too, the sneaks. This got me annoyed. They were keeping way too many secrets from me for my liking.
I walked in a huff to their bedroom at the end of the dark hall, opening the door without so much as a knock. They were going to be secretive, then they would have no privacy from me.
I stood in the doorway, giving them a non-convincing death stare. "You knew this was happening, even when Harry didn't?" I asked, eyes squinted for effect.
"Yes", Dad said simply. The look of accusation I sent each of them was supposed to be intimidating, but they were still laughing. They knew I wasn't much for surprises. But they knew how excited I was, and how I wouldn't be able to stay mad for long. Why was I mad anyways? One Direction were in my house for goodness sakes. I cooled down a little.
"And dear", Mom called after me before I stormed off, "check downstairs".
Oh great. Another surprise. Another secret. When was it going to end? Ever? By this point, I highly doubted it.
I walked down the familiar basement stairs into my comfy room, not knowing what I would find. Were Cirque du Soleil performing a private show in my bedroom? I half expected to find an elephant, or a juggling cat. I had no predictions left.
Instead, I found the more lovely pair that is Danielle and Eleanor. The were both chatting, sitting on my bed. Of course, they both looked so beautiful. Eleanor was wearing a mint Peter Pan collared shirt and skinny jeans, hair wavy and parted down the middle. Danielle's curly hair was pulled back into a side braid, and she was wearing a pair of dark flats and jeans, with a knit cardigan. My face lit up in a smile the minute I rounded the corner and I saw them.
