Chapter 24
.
I hauled my luggage up the creaky basement steps, exhausted with the effort. Two months worth of clothes really did weigh a lot, and lugging two full suitcases up a flight of stair is tiring. But I felt nothing but happiness when I walked into the bright living room.
Louis and Eleanor were watching One Tree Hill on TV; I must have left my disc set in the DVD player. They looked comfortable on the couch, wearing matching pyjama bottoms and comfy tshirts; Louis' was striped, of course. They were nothing but "awww" worthy.
Niall and Liam were playing a friendly game of ping pong on our old family table tennis table. It looked like it was a tough competition, and Zayn was acting as the referee. Both of the boys were laughing as they bounded after the bouncing ball, eyebrows cinched together in concentration. Niall scored the match point, Liam's paddle just grazing the ball, missing by a millimeter.
"Hi guys!", I said, excited to see that everyone was making themselves at home. "Did you guys have breakfast yet, or anything?"
"Do you really think I wouldn't make them breakfast?" Mom asked, walking casually out of the kitchen. "They even insisted on washing the dishes, bless them."
I hadn't even noticed her there. She was wearing a pair of jeans that I always referred to as her "Grandma Pants" with a sweater. Typical Mom.
"Well, when yeh have such a delicious breakfast, yeh have ta thank the lady who made it somehow", Niall said, in his strong accent. My Mom smiled tenderly at his praise.
"It was really good Mrs. Kirkwood", Louis chirped in, unglueing his eyes from the television. Everyone nodded in approval. I wondered how long it had been since they had a proper homemade breakfast.
"Here sweetie, I made you a plate too", Mom said, handing me a plate of French Toast and sausages. I thanked her, then took it to the kitchen counter. I sat down, and started chowing down on my food. I was starving.
"Where's Danielle and Harry?" I asked curiously inbetween bites. They were nowhere to be found in the bustling early afternoon din.
"Danielle is just taking a shower, and Harry had to run and get something", Liam explained. I wondered where he could have gone to?
I pulled out my phone from my suitcase and turned it on. Of course, I had four messages, a few from each of the girls except Justine. Amused, I read each one, silently laughing. Breagh's were the first:
"BreaghIsTheBest(:- OMGOMGOMG NO WAY :OOO Is Niall there? Adjflflfnfjfkgkdkkskxndjdifnekickrncj. I just died.
BreaghIsTheBest(:- What should I take with me? I'm thinking my London shirt? Maybe that will give the hint ;) Mom is straightening my hair right now!
BreaghIsTheBest(:- All packed! But you better reply me or I'll have to come early :p"
I replied with a quick "Niall is here, take nice clothes, idk? & you'll have to wait till 2 ;)". Giggling, I moved onto Holly's message.
"Holly007- Girl, you've been keeping too many secrets from me. Like, whuttt? Hehe can'tt waitt! I'll be there at two forsureee!"
Judith had a much quicker, yet simpler answer.
"JudithJudexx-Omfg."
That pretty much summed things up. And Justine didn't reply. I was worried; maybe she had fainted or something. But I'm sure she got the message.
After finishing replying the girls as well as finishing my food, I walked over to the couch and sat myself down cross-legged. They were watching one of my favourite episodes; the "Psycho Derek" episode. In this episode, it's supposed to be Senior Prom at Tree Hill High, but the really creepy, obsessive Derek comes to one of the main character Peyton's house. It was a really dramatic, but totally excellent episode.
