Jade's Point of View:

I didn't really understand why Jace was acting like this. Like he didn't just tell me I was a coward for running off and that all I do is run. Like he never called me a whore... But then I remembered, Karla has been drugging him up with something that is making it easier to manipulate his mind. I wanted to find out what it was, but I wasn't going to risk my brother's safety, or Jace's under any circumstances.

"Jade, when did you come back? " He asked, looking directly at me. I couldn't look at him if I was going to lie again, but I still didn't answer. "Uh, two days ago?" I said, sounding more like a question. "But you saw me. " I told him. "Then why don't I remember? "  I didn't know what to say, what I was allowed to say, or what could get me in a worse place with Jace. He waited for me to speak and I didn't give him a word. "Why would you do what you did? " He asked, now sounding like he had been betrayed. I looked at him and my heart sank. He had a scowl on his face for my disloyalty. I bit back on the lump forming in the back of my throat.

"Answer me! " he shouted, making me jump at his tone. "No. "I mumbled. "Then why would you say that? " He asked and all I could do was hunch my shoulders. He sighed loudly. "I just want to understand what I did wrong. What did I do to make you do this?" He asked and I couldn't bear to listen to him blaming himself. "You didn't do anything. " I assured him. "Then why?" He asked. I shook my head at him. The room went silent again.

"Listen, Jade, I want to understand, I really do, but when you're not giving me much to work with, I don't know what to do. " He huffed, sitting on the end of my bed. "I didn't betray you. I swear I never have and never will. " I said confirming what I knew he wished deep down, the truth. "Then why would you say that?" He was searching for answers and he wouldn't stop until he got them. So I gave them, but they weren't necessarily the truth.

"I just didn't want anyone to come looking for me. " I started. I got a disturbing feeling in my stomach for constantly lying to him. "I was going through a lot that I really don't find necessary to discuss right now. I just wanted space and I knew I wasn't going to get it here. " I lied. "Can we talk about it? "  He insisted. "Not now, please? " I asked nicely.

The room once more was silent. I wanted to know what he was thinking. "Can I hold you?"  he asked randomly. "Aren't you still with Karla? " I asked, worried. "I don't care. " He stated. I really wanted to say no for precaution reasons, but I had to. It was the only sense of peace I'd get in a while, that I'd have in a while. I nodded and he climbed to the head of the bed. I rested my head on his chest and he wrapped his arm around me. I finally felt the tranquility that I really needed. I didn't realize how much I needed this until I got it.

I felt a rush of emotion overcome me. I began crying into his chest. His hand caressed my back. "It's alright, we're together now. " He assured me, but I knew it wasn't long.

Karla's Point of View:

I went to see Jace, but his parents said he wasn't there, with a hostile attitude, like always. Once I get my power, I swear they'll be first to go, other than my pathetic mate, Blake.

After I went looking for Jace, I decided to see what Jade was up to. I climbed up a tree to peek through her window since that was the only way. My blood boiled when I saw Jace, with his arm wrapped around her, they were both sleeping. I guess the hypertension drugs and scopolamine wore off. But she's really bold, laying with him after her warning. I have something for her.

I left, back to my safe house. "No, don't do it, I change my mind. " I interrupted Blake before he injected Jade's pitiful friends with the same serum we used on her.

He huffed and walked back to the test table. "You know, Jade just doesn't heed my warnings. That's why you guys are here. " They both just stared at me. "What a great friend she is, right? " I testified. "Yeah, whatever you say will not change how we feel about her.  We know about everything you've done to her. " Alya warned me. "And if she keeps it up, trying to ruin my love for Jace, neither one of you will be alive to tell anyone else. " I threatened. Blake growled at the way I spoke about Jace, jealous, lamentable, peasant.
