"My poor baby," Zach gave me a quick look while taking the pieces of glass out of my hand. I smiled a bit, trying not to wince too much at the pain he was causing. His long fingers were wrapped around my palm, squeezing it in order to really remove everything.
"It hurts," I sighed as he also pulled a tiny piece of my skin together with glass. He furrowed, throwing the it away and then let my hand go.
"I'm just going to desinfect your hand again and then you're off to go, okay?" I quickly nodded, running my other hand through my hair.
"Thanks, Zachie," I leaned in to peck his lips, what he gladly accepted. "I miss evenings in with you," I then added, stroking his knee with my healthy hand. His blue eyes connected with mine, his lips forming in a huge smile.
"Do you have any plans tomorrow?"
"Plans like what?" I faked my thinking and my husband gently slapped my thigh. We laughed in unision and listening to this sound I felt no pain in my hand anymore.
"Catching up with girls?" He then finally asked as he started cleaning the sink. I shook my head no, wanting to help him. Zach just gave me a wannabe stern look that made me giggle.
"No plans for tomorrow, love," I quickly said with my face lit up.
"May I persuade you to take a whole day off? We could drive somewhere where it could be just you and me," His voice became lower as he wrapped one of his arms around me, pulling me closer. I bit my lip while feeling butterflies in my stomach again.
"I would love to," I gave my words of agreement while wrapping my healthy hand around Zach's neck, gently stroking his hair.
"Stop distracting me," He mumbled, pecked my forehead and then stepped back. "Make us some popcorn and whiskey cola?" He suggested and even though drinking was the last thing on my mind for tonight, I didn't want to oppose him.
I made my way to the kitchen quickly as possible and started getting the food ready. I also fried some chicken for both of us since I had no dinner and as much as I knew Zach he didn't have it too. One of disadvantages of being married to him was never having proper meals together. None of us was a good cook and had time to make some healthy food. So we ate what we knew best - a lot of frozen fast food and take aways. This resulted in me, being way too thin and Zach losing even the tiny amount of muscles he had before.
"Are you done?" An arm wrapped around my hip as Zach pressed his front to my back. I leant my head back, closed my eyes and didn't even try to answer. "God, you look so tired," His voice was no longer seductive like it was in the bathroom earlier. It was more of a calm, worried one that I was no longer used to.
"I am tired," I sighed and turned around to face my husband. I spotted 5 o'clock shadow on his face and how red his eyes were. He looked pretty worn out and as much as I wanted to cuddle him to sleep, I had no energy to do so.
"Come on, you go and get changed and I will fix the dinner," He murmured and grabbed the bowl with corn that was ready to be microwaved. "And then we will watch a nice movie and just fall asleep together with no alarm set," The tone he was using now was kind, yet strict so I did slowly ascend the stairs, taking my clothes off with one hand.
Soon enough I was in our room, surrounded by photos of us and McPaws sleeping on our bed. I stroked him and placed a kiss on his head, to which he replied with a quiet purr. I slid on Zach's PJ bottom and an oversized t-shirt, throwing my old clothes in the washing bin. After grabbing some make up wipes to remove make up on my way I descended the stairs again, smelling delicious food from the kitchen.
I spotted Zach has already set the sofa ready with pillows all over it. There was the movie Mean girls paused on the TV and a lot of fried chicken on our tiny table. I saw Zach didn't prepare any alcohol so I decided I would avoid it too.
"Do you need any help?" I asked Zach, leaning on the kitchen door. He was just taking the popcorn out of the microwave and gave me his award winning smile.
"Nope, all set and ready to eat, cuddle and sleep," I giggled and grabbed two tiny cokes from the fridge.
"I need something to wash the corn down," I mumbled, knowing after we finish eating both of us would be too lazy to brush our teeth. It was usually the way with our movie nights. Zach quietly giggled before grabbing the bowl with popcorn and led the way to the living room. I jumped on the sofa carefully so I didn't injure my hand even more and took my spot.
"You all set?" Zach asked while unlocking his phone. Its light reminded me I should probably take mine too, just in case we wanted to take stupid selfies again.
"Zach, could you be a dear and bring me my phone? It's in my purse still," I gave him a full teeth smile as he sighed. "Pleaaaaaase," I begged, placing my hands as if I were praying.
"Okaaay, okaaay," He sighed and threw his iPhone next to me. "Just promise me to take no stupid pics of me sleeping," Was his other demand as he was leaving the room.
"Promise!" I laughed loudly and leant my back on the soft sofa, taking the first bite of fried chicken. I heard the zipper of my purse and how Zach was searching for my phone.
It wasn't even 10 seconds later when he entered the room with his face looking furiously red and abnormally short breathing. With one hand he was holding my purse up high so everything was falling out of it, while his other hand was holding a tiny piece of paper I yet had to recognise.
"Now beloved wife," His voice was venomous. "Tell me who the fuck Luke is?"
