"I really trust you, Luke."

"So this is my place. It's not what you're probably used to but-," Luke unlocked the door of his house and I immediately felt the need to interrupt.

"But it is perfect. Thanks again for letting me stay here," I smiled and grabbed my suitcase. After spending two hours at the police department because of Luke's hit we finally managed to get to his place. Luckily, Luke was excused by the officer, meaning he would get no fine. Zach on the other hand, would have to pay a fee for interrupting public peace.

"I wish we could come here earlier," He sighed, pulling the suitcase away from me. He then pulled the beanie off his head, revealing blonde curls of his.

"It's not our fault though. And thanks again for defending me," I followed him upstairs to a guest room that only had a bed and a wardrobe inside. It also had a huge balcony that offered a nice view to a tiny garden behind the house.

Luke came behind me as I was staring out, gently touching my shoulder with his hand. I looked over my shoulder and a small smile spread over my face.

"I would protect every woman if anyone act like that towards her. Seeing you in a position like that only made me hit harder," He showed his straight white teeth and then stepped away from me. "Do you want to eat something maybe?"

"I wouldn't mind eating yeah... I'm paying though," I grabbed my purse to order a pizza or Chinese food but Luke's huge hand took my phone in his hands.

"I'm cooking," He winked and started leaving the guest room. I bit my lip when I noticed how broad his shoulders were. "By the way, take your time getting cozy and everything. Second door to the left, this is where you find the bathroom if you need it," He added, running his fingers through his curls.

I nodded and closed the door behind him. First thing I did was taking off my jeans that were pretty uncomfortable around my waist. Now it was high time to start buying some pregnancy clothes or at least yoga pants. Pulling on some leggins and an oversized t-shirt I immediately felt a lot like home. I also let my hair fall down on my shoulders, realising how long it got again. It felt like pregnancy made it grow faster.

Checking myself in the mirror I also spotted my skin was glowing and even though I was super tired, it felt good to be back in Los Angeles. I didn't expect to face Zach this soon but at least now I was sure he got my point about not wanting to see him anymore. I knew my thoughts would be about him before I fall asleep at night again but at least now I knew where we stood. Evenings and nights were still the worst, making me miss Zach a lot. I missed hugging him, kissing him and waking up in his arms. My sleep was often accompanied with nightmares about us fighting but sometimes waking up was even worse. Realising my baby would not have the father always felt like a sharp stab in my stomach but I promised to myself I would be the best mum in the world.

Wonderful smell from kitchen woke mu up from my thoughts and I quickly made my way down. Luke was standing next to the oven, checking how meat in there was doing. He was wearing a simple black t-shirt, covered with a torn jeans jacket and black pants yet he was looking so professional.

"What are you making?" I quietly asked as I felt my stomach growling. Luke smiled at me and opened the fridge.

"Chicken with curry and some rice with veggies. Nothing too hard," He handed me a bottle and before I could protest his finger pointed at a word that was stated on it. "It's a non alcoholic beer, I always drink it," I smiled widely as he opened the bottle and offered it to me. Our fingers touched when I grabbed it and I let them linger on his for a little too long.

"I'm sure it will be better than anything I'd be able to make," Pulling my hand away I sipped from the bottle and leant my back on the wall.

"Tell me something," Luke said and started chopping vegetables. My green eyes were observing his long fingers while I patiently waited for his question. "Zach used to be your husband, right? The one you wanted to spend your life with. How come you got divorced?" His blue eyes met mine and I felt my heartbeat became faster again.
