"Dude, did you see that freaking show that Henry Bowers put on today? Some girl kicked him in the-" Bill cut Richie off by slapping him upside the head. "Ow, Jesus! What was that for?"
Bill's eyes went wide as he moved his eyes over to me.
I tried my best to keep my face from turning red, but it didn't do any good.
Richie looked over at me with an apologetic expression written all over his face.
I looked down, playing with my fingers as Richie's face turned pale.
"Oh."
"What did he say to you?" Eddie asked, looking at me with his hazel eyes.
The boys glared at me, waiting for an answer that I would never clearly give them.
"W-What did he d-do to you?" Bill stepped up, our eyes meeting.
Richie had come in closer while Stan crossed his arms. They're waiting.
"He said nothing," Lie.
"Then why did you kick him in the no-no area?" Stan asked.
"Because he's a jerk, you guys know that," Truth.
"There has to be a r-reason," Bill told me, squinting, as he stepped in front of me.
Bill was right, there was a reason. But if they know the truth, they'll try going after him, which wouldn't end well. And even if they did win, Henry and his fellow pervs would still find a way to get them back for it.
"Hey, if she doesn't want to tell us, she doesn't have to," Eddie piped up, raising his eyebrows. "But if he ever hurts you he'll be waking up..." Eddie paused. "In a hospital."
I rolled my eyes, slumping down on the floor as I curled into a ball. Bill sat down next to me as the boys sat in front of me.
"H-Hey," Bill told me, leaning into to me where he could see my face. "It'll be a-alright." Bill grabbed my hand, his face turning to a light shade of pink.
"Hey, Bill, you want a kiss with that? Muah!" Richie puckered his lips, blowing Bill a kiss using his hand.
The boys laughed as I stared at the dirt ground, my face turning red. Bill gave Richie a death glare, squeezing my hand while he was at it.
"I'm going to kill you," Bill mouthed to Richie.
I sat there while the boys laughed their butts off and almost fell forwards from how funny it was.
Later after school, I walked home with Bill like I had been doing for a long while now ever since my father had started drinking. Bill had always thought that my father had been too dangerous for me to be living with him, but the truth is, he hardly ever paid attention to me.
