Paige couldn't stop looking out of the window as she willed the car to go faster. Surely this was just all a big misunderstanding. This wasn't Jackson's way. She checked her phone again, still no calls from Sehun's phone. Jimin drove in silence. The happiness from her pregnancy and his proposal had quickly disappeared. In it's place was fear and worry. She felt uneasy. As she passed a petrol station, she asked Jimin to pull over - nipping inside to use the toilet.
After using the toilet, Paige washed her hands, looking at herself in the mirror. She retrieved her phone from her bag, looking up and catching her own eye.
Should she?
She pulled up Sehun's ID and stared at it.
She paced the floor and closed her eyes.
And then, she pressed call.
Her heart rose higher up her throat with every dial-tone. She paced the floor, pressing the phone hard against her ear. Her stomach was bubbling, nerves threatening to spill at any moment.
"Hello! Sehun's phone - sorry he can't answer right now, he's unavailable and will remain so - well, forever! How can I be of assistance?" Paige listened to his mocking tone, her free hand balling at her side.
"I hope for your own sake that you're joking..." She growled down the phone, unable to calm her temper.
"Ay, ay, ay Paige-ah. You're all bark and no bite."
"I swear when I get my hands on you..." Paige growled again.
"I love when you talk dirty to me..." Jackson purred.
"Jackson!" Paige snapped. "I'm not fucking playing around with you right now!"
"Neither am I! And that's why I did what I did to Sehun. To prove to you, once and for all - I'm not fucking playing around!"
"This is your last warning Jackson. This is your last chance to leave without consequence, to leave without looking back. If you don't -" He started laughing as Paige bit her lip roughly.
"Do you want to know something Paige-ah? I didn't actually mean to kill your sweet little cousin...I got a little carried away. You know how that works, I get a little excited and then before I knew it - he's dying on me!" He was still mocking.
"When I find you Jackson...I will make any pain that you've inflicted on anyone look like child's play..." He laughed again down the phone.
"How about I make it easier for you, huh? Let's meet. Just me and you - to finish it, once and for all." Paige moved herself before the mirror once more.
She wasn't that scared little girl anymore. She was a leader. A mother. Someone who had so much to defend in this world, someone who had so much to lose - someone who had something to fight for.
"Where? When?" Jackson practically purred in satisfaction at her response.
"I never thought you would actually go for that." Jackson laughed. "How about somewhere that holds so many memories? The warehouse? Midnight. Come alone." He hung up and she tucked her phone away like a secret in her bag.
She checked herself over in the mirror, trying to think about how to play things. She took a deep breath before heading back out to meet Jimin. Not wanting to appear disrespectful, Jimin waited in the car as Paige hurriedly walked up to the house, pressing her thumb firmly against the door reader.
The room was filled to the brim with people but it was deadly silent. All eyes rose to meet hers, nodding respectfully before looking down at the floor once more. She could see her Uncle sat off to one side alone. It wasn't until she walked closer to him that she realised he wasn't alone. Not really...
