The party wore on and on into the night and I was getting very tired and dizzy. I think I must have taken a little alcohol somewhere along the line and I couldn't count the number of boys or even girls I had danced with. One boy had even tried to kiss me before Vanessa intervened and punched him on the nose. "Stay off!" She barked at him and he scurried away.
"Sorry I left you alone." I don't see why she was apologizing but I nodded anyways.
The party ended at around 11 o'clock and I was extremely grateful for that. I don't think I would have been able to stand a second longer in these freaking heels, not with all the noise and bumps around. I followed Vanessa into her car and I was slightly dosing off when I realized she wasn't taking me home. Panic set in.
"W-where are you going?" I asked.
"Relax babe," she smiled. "I got it covered."
"I need to get home to my younger ones, I can't leave them by themselves."
"And who told you they are by themselves. I already asked Nicole to babysit for you." Yea, right. I should have known Nicole was involved. No wonder she rushed out of the party without telling me. I didn't say anything more, I just sank into the seat and allowed Vanessa take me anywhere she was going. I don't know why, but I refused to argue with her.
We reached Vanessa's place in ten and she led me straight up to her room. Her house was as beautiful as she was. She told me she stayed alone. Her parents had their own house at another part of the town and her three siblings had all been sent up east for school, she had refused to go. Her room was also very lovely. The walls were painted pink with purple polka dots on them. She had pictures of her family hung up at one corner. Her bed was dressed with pink sheets and purple duvet. The floor was covered in white carpet and had small round Persian rugs of pink and purple around. It was very accommodating and I feel in love with it instantly. Even though I didn't like pink, her combo seemed different and I admired it.
After a while she went into her closet and got me some clothes to change into, showing me the bathroom. "Thanks." I murmured shyly. This shy attitude was really surprising me. She also went in and changed and climbed into bed, allowing me to stand there and mope at my surroundings. "Love, when you're ready you can come into bed, okay?" She smiled at me and turned to face the other side. I immediately went round and climbed in beside her, I saw her smile a little before turning to switch off the light on the night stand. Now that it was dark, I felt some of my courage return and I decided to ask. "So why did you bring me here?"
She didn't reply at first and I was about to ask again when she shifted close to me and threw her arm lazily around my waist. I exhaled sharply, not knowing how to respond, then she said. "I don't know why too but I feel connected to you in a strange way." I turned to face her squarely even though I couldn't see her face and opened my eyes wider. "What do you mean by that?" I asked petrified. I was beginning to shiver lightly, and it wasn't even cold. I felt her arm around me shrug. "I really don't know Eva, let's get some sleep. Maybe by morning I'll be able to explain to you better." I'm sure she didn't even wait to know if I had something to say, she planted a kiss on my forehead and was soon asleep, leaving me to ponder on whatnot.
