Okay, this is very weird. I can't believe I slept in someone's house and a girl at that, barely one week since I started school. The morning I had woken up in Vanessa's room, she had told me things that made me think I was mad.
Flashback
"Eva, I like you." Vanessa said softly when we had finished breakfast. I stared at her confused. What did she mean by that? I thought. Not knowing what else to say, I replied, "I like you too."
"I know you're confused about what I really meant. But I don't just like you, I really really like you. I mean I'll like for us to have something between us." Now I really got what she was trying to say. Did Nicole never tell this dumb head that I wasn't gonna be a part of their crazy life style here? I guess she didn't, I didn't want to start explaining stuffs to her so instead I just said. "Vanessa, I like you as a person. I think that is how it should be, we could be friends and nothing more." I know I was sounding harsh but I just wanted to drive it into her head that I did not want to be in a relationship with her. I don't want to start having reasons to hate this pretty girl.
I guess she understood though. "It's okay, I understand your fears, but I'll always be here if you have a change of heart." Like that is ever going to happen, I mentally rolled my eyes.
End of flashback
Now it got me thinking, do I really like this girl to want to give up my morals for her? I tried to push back the thoughts of what my parents will do if they ever found out that their daughter was becoming gay, mum will freak out and dad might send me off to aunt Celine's place, which I dreaded so much. I managed to put the whole thing at the back of my mind, saying I didn't need to start thinking like a married and depressed woman. I'll let Nicole know about it and hear her opinion.
Letting Nicole know about my predicament was almost like the biggest mistake I had ever made. Why didn't I think of it before? She would only agree with Vanessa. Here she was asking me to give her a try, like I want to. "Seriously Eva, you need to have fun." She stated. "And who told you I wasn't having as much fun as I wanted?" I asked in return. "Its obvious, you're literally the only one that does not approve of what goes on around here." She was right, I was about the only one that did not like what was going on in thus insane town and I did not want to change that fact.
"People are talking, Eva." Nicole said, breaking my thoughts. I glared at her. "They have their mouth, let them talk. I choose to be who I want to be." I retorted.
"Okay, okay, fine. I won't force you again. You can do what you want to do. I hope something hits you very hard on your head so that you can start thinking straight." She said the last part playfully. "Yea, right. And I pray all of you in this school get hit by a big truck and paralyze you so that you will stop sinning." I laughed and she joined me. Nicole was fun though, and I was starting to think she was my best friend and I know she felt the same too. We bonded so easily and I was thankful she also didn't make passes at me.
