The day came to an end with me getting a detention. Actually it was because of Nicole, she had me passing notes to her in class and got caught by the teacher so we were actually serving the detention together. That was fair enough or I would have had to kill her myself on getting home. We spent an hour in detention before Mr. Vincent released us. We still had not talked enough for me to find out why she didn't buy my talk like the others and I was just about to commence conversation when I heard a low whistle from Nicole and turned in the direction of her gaze, Vanessa. All through last week I had managed to get her off my head, using Denise as a big distraction yet she kept crawling into my thoughts every chance she got. Now here she was in all her glory, staring at me wide eye. After she'd asked to come to my house and I hadn't given a reasonable answer I guessed she thought it best to stay away, wise girl. As fast as lightening, I dashed to the other end of the hall away from her and Nicole but she came after me. "Please Eva, allow me talk to you, please." Maybe I should give her a listening ear just for the sake of it, and I'm not that cruel too. "Okay Vanessa, I'm listening. Spill." I said to her. Nicole was patiently waiting at the other side of the hall for us while we talked.
"Vanessa, that girl you saw that day was Stephanie." She's started. " I never asked who she was, just go straight to the point." I was getting irritated by her rubbish banters. "Okay calm down. She was one of the girls I had something with, but just for one night. Since then, she's been stalking me and trying to lay me again." I rolled my eyes sacarstically. "That day in the toilet, I had gone to rearrange my hair when she came out of one of the rooms and started whispering stuffs to me. I really didn't mean to get down with her but I had it in mind that if I gave her what she wanted she might let me be." She concluded. I looked at her, should I feel pity for this smart yet naive girl? She didn't know what she even did. "Are you aware that you sounded stupid just now?" I asked her but didn't get a reply, I didn't need any so I continued. "You said you had a one night with her and she came for more, what makes you think sleeping with her again will get her off you?" Realization hit her like a tsunami and her eyes opened wide but I wasn't done talking so I'd didn't give her the chance to jump in. "You surprise me Vanessa, how you think. To think that I thought highly of you as someone very smart to understand simple things like this." "I'm sorry." Was all she could mutter and started walking away, but I caught her arm. "No Vanessa, don't walk away." I heaved. "Its okay, I forgive you." There was light in her eyes as she looked at me. "That means we are friends again?" She asked, the light still there. "Emm, about that. How about I ask you something else?" I stuttered, I wasn't sure about what I was about to do but I was going to do it anyway. I saw her eyes dim with fear again so I reassured her. "Its not something bad Vanessa. I actually want to ask if- if, you will be my girlfriend?" Her eyes opened, I heard Nicole gasp, I myself sighed heavily. Vanessa was still looking at me and I couldn't read meaning from her looks but I was about to give up when she blurted, "yes Eva. Yes I'll be your girlfriend." She hugged me tightly and I returned the hug while staring at Nicole whose eyes said something like you're toast. I couldn't agree more, I really was toast.
