On Friday I got the best news ever. There would be no school for a week. The principal said there was going to be a renovation in school the whole of next week, so we had to stay home during that time. She just asked us to pack up and go back home, I couldn't be more happy. Ever since that Vanessa-toilet incident, I didn't feel like going to school anymore. I would always drag myself out of bed and grumble till I got to school. I was actually the first person to leave school, Nicole said she was going somewhere else with Vivian and Gabrielle so I left without them. And Jordan decided to ride with some of his friends too. I got home and met a not too interesting surprise. Dad was home and he had returned with my cousins- two of them actually. Not that I didn't like them, but I wasn't expecting to care for more people, and why were they here when it was school period? Oh, yes, I had to ask that out loud for an answer.
"Dad, good afternoon." I greeted calmly, trying not to sound too agitated. "Afternoon dear." He replied, not noticing the pretense in my voice. I eyed my cousins curiously and he got the clue and spoke up. "They are going to be here for the main time, although they won't be going to school. They are home schooled and are currently on break. They will be here for a month or so."
A whole month? I was going to run mad before it ended. I started checking them out again. The girl who was the elder one was Denise, she was eighteen like me but totally different. Her hair was same though, think of our family with black hair, its sometimes creepy. She had coffee colored eyes, a very small nose, and full dark lips. She was just an inch taller than I was, I guess. I'm 5'8, she's probably 5'9. Her brother Alex was sixteen with the cutest deep blue eyes I ever saw. His skin was almost white compared to the normal light skin people had, so it matched his blue eyes perfectly, but he still had the signature hair just like Jordan's. I hadn't seen this people since like forever, okay maybe that was too much but I haven't seen them since I was eight and now they just showed up to stay for a whole month? This is amazing.
When I was done staring, I simply turned to dad, "they are welcome." I went upstairs not waiting to hear any more. Since there were enough rooms in the house, Denise got the one immediately before mine and Alex got two rooms away from Divine on her side. I was glad I didn't have to share my room, I would go insane then. Immediately dad had them settled, I heard him shout that he was leaving and without another word, he left. Now things were just about to get awkward.
I came out of my when it was 5 p.m to prepare dinner. After cooking, I called all of them downstairs to eat.
Dinner was silent but awkward, Denise kept staring at me and when I tried to catch her eyes she just averts them. I was wondering if something was wrong and me being who I am decided to find out. 'Denise is everything okay? Do you want something?" I asked loudly through the food in my mouth. She glanced at me for a while before answering, "no thank you Eva. I think I'm full now." With that she got up and left the table. That was very strange.
