Nicole strolled in with Grace, Lindsey, Danielle, Louisa, Vivian and Gabrielle. Seeing them from afar, they were all gorgeous and I couldn't help but feel lucky to have such friends, even in this sad mood.
Nicole noticed that something was wrong with me and rushed up immediately. "Sweetie, what's wrong with you?" She asked concerned. I looked up at her and looked back down, she put her finger under my chin and lifted my head.
"Young lady, when I talk to you, you look at me. Understand?" She said in mock anger. I couldn't help but smile a little, Nicole sure did know how to bring out something from someone. I ended up telling her what I saw in the toilet.
"Aww. But you do know that you're not supposed to be upset, right?" She asked when I was done. I nodded, then added, "I know but I'm still upset, I don't know why. She's not even attached to me." Then she smiled in a mischievous way. "Why are you smiling, is there something on my face?" I asked in horror. "No silly," she laughed some more.
"Listen girl, if you like her, just tell her already. Stop getting jealous over what's not yours. You know I won't support that." This time she said a bit sternly. "I can't tell her I like her, when I don't know if I like her in that way." I was confused. But before Nicole could say something more, the bell rang for lunch over and we had to get back to class. I didn't know what to do if I should see Vanessa so I prayed I didn't see her or worse still, she didn't see me.
The rest of the day was just the same and I couldn't wait to get back home to my sanctuary. As if on cue, the bell rang for end of class and I was so happy I leapt up before anyone, inciting stares from my classmates. I really didn't care much, I tapped Nicole who was sleeping, she did that in almost every history class and I had to wake her up to go home. "Let's move Nick, I can't wait any more." I pulled her.
"Hey, hey, easy. Are we going somewhere special?" She asked with light in her eyes.
"No, we are going home. Now get up, you're so heavy." I said gritting my teeth. She stood up sharply and we left the classroom. Just when I thought I was going home to get my beauty rest, we were just taking the last bend before the car park and I heard my name. I turned and who else would call, Vanessa. She hurried up to me.
"Eva, hold on please." She said breathlessly. I stopped and waited for her to get to me, she was panting by the time she stopped in front of me. "Yes, Vanessa. What do you want?" I asked, the anger seeping back. "I- I'm sorry Eva. I didn't mean to do it. She tricked me." Vanessa pleaded. "And who told you I'm angry?" I asked the obvious. "I don't need to be told. You already look mad now." She replied.
"Vanessa, there is nothing between the both of us so I can't get angry if I see you with someone else. It doesn't make sense." I explained, then added, "if you don't mind, I'll like to take Nicole home now. She's very sleepy." I lied in order to get away from her, Nicole tried to protest but I just pulled her arm and started walking away. "Can I come to you house?" Vanessa asked from behind. "Maybe Richard, if I calm down." And with that I was gone. I really didn't mean to sound that way but I couldn't help my anger right now.
