A/N: OMG! I just saw the story has over 500 reads! Thank you so much, guys! I never even hoped for 100 reads, let alone this. Thank you, thank you, thank you! If this keeps up, I'll need to find a way to return the kindness and support you're showing me and my writing. I have something in mind but I'll see how I'll make it work. Once again - thank you so much and enjoy! 💖💖
At the crack of dawn on the sixth day after the attack, you were already up and about the apartment, preparing breakfast for you and Taehyung. Well, mainly for the boy since you weren't really a breakfast person – juice or coffee was sufficient to last you until lunch, although you did have an energy bar on you at all times just in case of a hunger attack. It was around 8 am when you were fully dressed and heading out the door after you checked on your still soundly sleeping best friend and left a note for him.
Neighbor: "Good morning, Y/N" the kind old lady from the other end of the hall smiled at you when you passed her on your way to the elevator.
Y/N: "Morning, Mrs. Rhodes" you smiled, noticing the grocery bags in her hands, and immediately reaching forward to help her "Early start of the day?"
Mrs. Rhodes: "As always, dear" she smiled back and let you take the groceries while she fumbled with her keys "You're going out this early, I assume you're feeling better."
You looked at her confused. How did she know you weren't feeling well? Did she hear something? The walls were supposed to be soundproof but there might have been an open window or a cracked door or something – you had enough visitors during that week so it wouldn't surprise you. Oh no, what if she did overhear something? Namjoon would be furious!
Mrs. Rhodes: "TaeTae told me you weren't feeling well when I bumped into him the other day" she answered the question written all over your face. You tried to hold back your relieved sigh.
Y/N: "Oh, yeah..." you smiled, mainly at the endearing nickname your kind neighbor used to address the wolf boy "I think it was some kind of bug but I'm feeling a lot better now."
Mrs. Rhodes: "Well, I'm glad, dear" you walked into her apartment and placed the groceries on the table "Thank you."
Y/N: "No problem, Mrs. Rhodes. Have a nice day!"
It wasn't unusual for you to help the woman or anyone in the apartment building for that matter. Taehyung was such a social butterfly he knew every neighbor and talked to them any chance he got. It was no surprise that soon after you moved in with him, you yourself picked up those habits. You were especially fond of Mrs. Rhodes, not only because she lived on the same floor but because she never asked personal questions and always brought you pie or some other kind of pastry she had made that day. The countless times she had called you and Taehyung over for coffee, the conversation was always interesting and light-hearted, nothing like what you'd expect from a 72-year-old woman. You could tell she was still young at heart and suspected a soul like hers must be an old one. From those conversations you found out her granddaughter was studying abroad and she missed her which was part of the reason she was so happy whenever she got young peoples' attention, yours and Taehyung's in particular.
Mrs. Rhodes: "You too, dear. Oh and..." you lingered by the exit, turning around just in time to catch an apple flying your way "Make sure you stay hydrated, it's going to be hot today."
The quick encounter with Mrs. Rhodes was enough to start the day off on a great note. It lasted only a few minutes but it was enough to have you smiling all the way to the other side of town, where Hoseok's dance studio was – your first stop of the day. Truthfully, you wanted to run to Yoongi's studio the second you woke up but you didn't want to seem desperate, regardless how true that was.
