Superintendent Tlhware sat in his office trying to gather reports on the murder of Lorato Moloi. The girl that witnessed the murder was now twenty- five years of age and might have distorted memory about the incidence. He had already ordered she should be brought in for questioning. The case was still opened and it will definitely be taken to court. Two counts of murder and a traumatized child. But something worried him. Has Lauretta really recovered from her trauma? Could she have been the woman that attacked Patrick Moloi? He stood up and walked around his office. Something must be done.
Laura came out of her car with her mother to the police station. She was angry that she could be suspected. What would she want to do with a piece of rubbish like Patrick Moloi? The piece of trash should thank his lucky stars that someone else found him first. He would't have been so lucky if it was Lauretta Rakwela he met.
"Mama. What do you think they want?" She asked angrilly.
"Maybe to testify that you saw the murder." Her mother explained.
They were led to the Supreintendent's office by one of the officers. Superintendent Tlhware was not who Laura thought he would be; an old man probably about to retire. He was on the contrary tall, handsome and had a serious face. They were offered to sit and the questioning began.
"Welcome. I'm really sorry to bring you here Mrs. Rakwela and Laura. You might need to testify when the time comes. We are sorry to put you through this nightmare again."
"I will gladly lead that skunk to the gas chamber if I must. I want justice for my late mother. Nothing more and nothing less will do." Laura said frankly.
"I just want to know if you are both okay with it." Superintendent Tlhware said gently.
"We are Sir. Can we go now?" Laura replied and stood up.
"Thank you for your cooperation."
"Till we meet again." Masego Rakwela shook hands with him and they left.
Laura felt the conversation could have been done through a phone call. That goody too shoe superintendent was up to something. He wants to play a tune and she will nevr dance to it. Giving her life to Jesus does not make her a fool, in fact she has become smarter. Didn't the Bible say that "...the wages of sin is death?" She will see this to the end and gladly walk Moloi to the hang man's lair!!!
Three months after Patrick Moloi's attack and subsequent arrest, his court date was set and this made Laura very happy. She dressed up in a pink two piece suit with a knee length skirt. She let her shoulder length long hair down and wore a high heeled pink shoe. Her mother was worried. The trial meant her daughter has to relive the nightmare again. As the entire family sat down she asked if she was okay.
"Yes mama. I dreamed of this day Mama. It is finally happening. This is my chance to get rid of him once and for all."
Mr. Rakwela was worried about Laura. She was carefree and spiteful especially towards Moloi.
"You have to forgive him. God will heal you if you let him."
"Father, he will pay for what he did. This is God's punishment for him." Laura replied harshly,
"In his next life, he will not hurt a fly."
Lorato's mother had a heart attack when she heard about the murder and she later died two days after the burial. Her aunts and uncles with her aged father sat on the Defendant side of the court.
"God understands how you feel. But allow yourself to heal," Mrs. Rakwela said gently
"Why did he allow those things to happen to me? I know He loves me but why?" Laura asked tearfully.
"God's way of working may perplex us at times. But in due time you will understand." Her mother replied her. Laura knew the truth that God is aware of her problems but she had decided to push through with her un-forgiveness. When she is all done, then she might forgive the murderer.
