It has been a week since Koketso Molefe was attacked and everyday a mail comes in with just three typed words addressed to her. "You deserve this." There have been seven notes in all and Superintendent Tlhware was getting really apprehensive. Someone was out there watching everyone of them and with evil intentions.
Laura's upcoming wedding which should have been in a month's time was moved forward to the end of the year; December. It was frustrating but a relief too as everyone needed time to deal with their current enemy; the stalker. Laura decided to stay indoors often and with her family just to stay off the view of their new "friend." On a cloudy Saturday morning in November, she walked towards her window, her moods as dark as the clouds. By this time she should have become Mrs. Brandon Holmes but now someone destroyed that dream. She sighed in defeat and walked to her bed and sat down. Who could be doing this to her and her family? What do they want exactly?
To make matters worse, all eyes seem to be on her as the major suspect because she had every reason to hurt the people in question; her biological parents but what about her adoptive family? She was glad her parents didn't probe further on Phillip's case. She wish she could have an amnesia and erase all the bad and painful memories of Phillip. Brandon too seem a bit distant and rarely visit and call too.
"Lord, what do I do? Why is all this happening to me?" She turned her engagement ring over on her finger and felt peace in her heart as a scripture dropped into her spirit, "So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand."
"Isaiah 41 verse 10 Father. I hear you loud and clear. I will be strong for my family and for Brandon. We will get married at your time and it will be beautiful because all the obstacles would have been removed by that time." She got up from her bed and danced.
"At God's time, everything is beautiful," She declared happily and picked up her phone to call Brandon.
He picked on the fourth ring.
"Hello Lauretta." He said as if surprised.
"Hi! How are you?" She asked in excitement.
"I have been waiting for you to call. I wanted to give you all the time you need to deal with this especially since you kept ignoring my calls."
"I am sorry about that Brandon." She said in sincerity.
"That is okay but you sound so excited! Share the joy."
"Brandon, let's set our new wedding date. Let's take a step of faith and believe that God will sort this evil person out. Let's go and finish our pre-wedding photos."
Brandon became silent but after about ten seconds responded, "Are you sure about that?"
"Absolutely. God will finish this work in my life and you and I will have the best testimony. Brandon, I am going to the Bridal shop right now and finalise the dress I want. I will go with Mum and then finalise the payment on the venue."
"Are you sure about this?" Brandon asked.
"Yes. I am very sure."
About an hour later, Laura and Latoya were happily looking through the wedding dresses in the bridal shops they entered. Her mother had been skeptical about her child's new found confidence but she went along with it. They all need some form of distraction as well as overcome the dark clouds hanging over the family.
Koketso was now out of coma and recovering from a broken right leg, twisted neck and sore back. Amazing! Things could have been worse and is still a miracle that she came off with no broken spine or anything worse given the intensity of the accident. Laura and Brandon have been visiting daily but on all visitation she was not able to meet with her grandmother.
