Laura sat with Brandon in his car at the hospital's parking lot weeping profusely and blaming herself for how everything turned out. She could have reported Phillip but things could have gone wrong and the worst that could have happened might be going back to the orphanage. Better still, she could have fought back and made herself untouchable but she was filled with fear of abandonment and was also terrified by Phillip's threats.

Nothing Brandon said made her feel better especially now that her three fathers were fighting for their lives. It was nearing supper time but no one dared to leave the hospital. Brandon prayed silently as his wife continued to beat herself up mentally. His heart prayed for strength for the family as well as grace to overcome the coming attack that would surely come through the media when it all gets out.

"Lauretta, let me take you home so you could freshen up and get out of these clothes with blood stains. You need to eat too."

Laura sighed sadly and replied, "how are we ever going to overcome this? What if one of my fathers die Brandon? I will not be able to live with myself."

"Laura, many things are happening around us and even greater tragedies but we must stay strong darling." He said and gently wiped her tears with his fingers. Laura's ringing phone interrupted them. She looked at the caller ID and accepted the call.

"Preston."

"I just arrived and I'm with your family. Please come up right now." He said frantically. Laura was not deaf as she could hear terrible wailing from the background. She cut the call and looked at her husband with fresh tears pouring down her puffy face.

"Let's go up Brand. I think the nightmares have only just began."

**********

The Moabe children came when Laura and Brandon left for the parking lot about an hour ago. The three of them were shedding bitter tears as the couple got in. Koketso was crying too while Pontsho was nowhere to be found.

"What's going on?" Laura asked softly.
"Why are you here you murderer! Why are you here you evil package of bad luck!" Angelique screamed in anger and pain.

Koketso wheeled herself towards Laura and took hold of her hands.

"It's your father Lauretta. Your father passed away."

It doesn't take a geek to know who passed away; Vincent Moabe.

Laura freed her hands and covered her mouth in shock. He cannot die not when she is just trying to make up with them. This cannot happen.

Angelique got up from where she was seated and ran towards Laura. She hit her elder sister with punches to anywhere she could.

"Die you evil person! You should have died and not him you piece of trash!" Brandon rescued his wife from the heartbroken girl and led his wife away from them. Preston and David followed them.

Laura stopped in the hallway and grabbed Brandon's hands.

"Who is going to die next Brandon? Who will lose their life next? Can't you see that even in death she's still fighting? A life for each pregnancy terminated. My three fathers and Phillip...four men Brandon. Oh why is this happening to me? Please wake me up from this nightmare!!!" She cried in bitterness of soul while her husband held her in an embrace to calm her down. He too was distraught but he knew that Mama Joe was accomplishing her mission, on person at a time to die for every child killed through the promiscous lifestyle of Phillip Rakwela.

***************

Pontsho sat next to Vincent's corpse lost for words and tears. She had screamed and screamed when the Doctor in charge took her to his office. This was not how she planned her life; a widow at 49. Vincent didn't promise this to her. He promised to be with her always through thick and thin but until death do them apart. Vincent must not go down alone. Mama Joe's death was not enough to redeem or atone for her husband's life. Someone must pay for this and she won't rest until they do.

She stood up painstakingly, took her husband's right hand and kissed it.

"I will avenge your death Vincent. I have our children to take care of but since she would't give up on you even till this moment, she must follow you in death too."

She let his hand go and slowly walked out of the morgue with her heart shattered and cold as the refrigerators that kept the departed till the day of their final goodbye.
